Dillon Maples has faced 13 batters, walked 5, struck out 6, and allowed two ground balls. Unhittable gets thrown around far too much, but Maples kind of is.

I honestly don't know what the best role is for a guy like him. He's probably 2-3x more likely than a typical reliever to have a disaster outing, but at the same time he's the only guy we have who can do what we just saw (at least until Carl rights the ship). Do you you always warm him up with a buddy, so if he walks the first two guys you can go and pull him right away? Do you use him in crazy high leverage situations, where you're probably already horsefeathered but you want to maximize your chance of escaping unscathed? Or do you use him in situations when you're losing close late; where you want to hold the team where it is but realistically there's not much difference between giving up one run and giving up five?

Albert Almora might have the worst approach of any player I’ve ever seen

And I used to watch Alfonso Soriano and Neifi Perez

One of these things is not like the others.

Alfonso Soriano was a very good player; he had one of the worst approaches at the plate I’ve ever seen by a player as good as he was.

did kb get hurt?

He had a tight quad or hamstring yesterday (and that’s why he DH’d then and presumably today) guessing it was just precautionary to get him out since we were killing them.

I assumed Joe DHed Byrant and put Schwarber in LF just to stick it to Backtobanks.
