It's not officially CFB season until someone is embroiled in a high-profile scandal made worse by lying about it.

Local radio says it is a very real possibility that Meyer is fired

Of course its a possibility. His wife not reporting the DV incident is a Title IX violation right? That's some serious ish for a university. I'll still believe it when I see it though.

Never would have imagined that Harbaugh could have outlasted Urban at their current jobs.

I would be disappointed if he is never able to beat an Urban Meyer OSU team. But then again that might be the case even if he stays.

If a mid-major school or bottom feeder power five program saw a tattoo-for-memorabilia scandal, a sexual abuse scandal and a cover up for domestic violence scandal all happen within a six or seven year span, the NCAA would slap them with a “lack of institutional control” punishment. But OSU is a huge moneymaker for the NCAA, so don’t count on it

Unless it’s raping young boys in the shower, the NCAA pretends like they have no jurisdiction when it comes to cover ups and legitimate criminality within athletic departments.

They did absolutely nothing to Baylor, Tennessee, or Vanderbilt for their athletic departments covering up sex crimes by their athletes.

I’d argue that OSU escaping NCAA punishment is less to do with OSU being a blue blood and more about the NCAA being giant hypocritical weasels.

Even when it is, the punishment isn't that great.

So Ole Miss once again has a new mascot...a Landshark. It was unveiled last weekend. Ole Miss deserves every bit of ridicule it gets.

The reason it's a Landshark is because about ten years ago, Ole Miss had a LB who was an Iraq War vet named Tony Fein. When he made tackles he would do a fins up motion. It caught on among the fanbase and so players from different sports would start doing it after making big plays. Tony unfortunately took his own life a few years after he left Ole Miss due to PTSD stuff. Anyways, so it's "Tony the Landshark".

It's too bad they weren't able to go with Admiral Ackbar, which won the student vote several years ago. LucasFilm wouldn't allow it though.

Lucasfilm wouldn't allow it? I thought I had heard that they would and Ole Miss just didn't want to go that way; but them not allowing it does make more sense.

The University said LucasFilm wouldn't allow it. However, I wouldn't trust the Ole Miss admin, especially back then.

Back when they decided to get rid of Col. Reb about 10 years ago, they held a fan vote among students and alumni. The choices were a black bear, a landshark, and some humanoid looking character called Hotty Toddy. Well, they never released the results of the vote publicly, but my wife was on the student committee back then and Landshark won decisively. The administration didn't care and went with the bear, which was never really embraced and so about 7 or 8 years ago they held a second vote and that was when Ackbar was nominated and won. The admin stuck with the bear claiming that LucasFilm wouldn't allow it. So we really don't know if that's true, but I suspect LucasFilm wouldn't allow it, so the admin was probably being honest about that.

Twitter blowing up that Urban Meyer was just fired.

Not seeing anything from local radio hosts or OSU bloggers

Some so called connected guy on an OSU forum said it. I just checked and no reporter has said a word. Yet.
