At about the mid-point of the season, I'd have Alzolay (injury notwithstanding) and Lange in the top tier of pitching prospects with everyone else in a big debatable morass after that.

 

I guess De La Cruz's upside might set himself apart in a 2nd tier but I can see a clear argument on the other side. Albertos is a huge question mark. Little is young and has some upside but hasn't put it together yet and is still waiting on his change up to develop. Clifton has shown improvement, is throwing 94-95 on his 4-seamer, 91-92 on his two seamer and some average secondaries but still walks a lot of guys. The reports on Swarmer's stuff are encouraging but he's a little late in his development curve as he'll turn 25 in 3 months. Keegan Thompson has put up some good numbers but against High-A batters and with a lackluster repertoire of pitches. Abbott's peripherals have been very encouraging and he shown good velo, but he's done it against Low-A guys. Bailey Clark has some electric stuff but he's currently injured. Tyson Miller and Tyler Thomas have surprised but they're not what I would call exciting. Neither are Rucker, Robinson, Underwood, Uelman or Lacy. Brailyn Marquez was impressive in his first start but that's one start and he's a long ways away.

 

With these kinds of numbers, there's a likelihood someone will take a step forward and distinguish themselves. I look forward to some clarity in this group in the 2nd half. For me, I've got my eye on Abbott and Miller. Who do you see emerging from the pack?

I want Robinson in AAA right now. Hell, I'd give him the ML start this weekend, even though I guess Mills gets it.

I still have de la Cruz in the same group as Alzolay and Lange. You mentioned he had an pitched through a toe injury in his first few starts and his numbers have been great in his last 9 starts (50.2 IP, 3.38 ERA, 9.24 K/9, 2.13 BB/9). Even considering his rough first 4 starts, his strikeout numbers are good.

 

I thought Bailey Clark had a chance to push towards that top tier with his great strikeout numbers but he's been hurt for nearly a month now. Clark and Abbott are my favorites outside the top tier since they both have a really strong, potentially plus second pitch.

 

Hopefully Marquez has a strong summer in Eugene and Albertos finds his control because those two have the highest ceilings below Myrtle Beach.

I think Mekkes is more likely to have a better big league career but Maples is more likely to have a big league All Star Game appearance.
