If Albertos wants to pitch 5 shutout innings with 10 Ks and 0 BBs today, so that I can forget about Brendon Little, that'd be great.

Or have an almost equally shitty start. Whatever.

Well, I thought injury when I saw he only went 1 so this is actually progress.

Going back to their days in Boston, how many of Thoyer's pitching draft picks turned into better than BORPs or were at least shut down relievers?

Lester & Papelbon were home runs. Barnes was decent last year, as was Joe Ross. Anyone else?

Bucholz had two seasons over 3 WAR, 1 over 2 and 1 over 1.5 then a bunch of replacement levelish ones. But yeah they weren't great at developing pitchers and most of their pitching was acquired through trade or FA, which is how it should be done anyways, IMO.

I know you're asking about draft picks, but why doesn't anyone seem to want to give Thoyer credit for development of Hendricks and Edwards? Acquired as 22 and 21 year old A-ball pitchers, respectively, neither a top-100 prospect (although Edwards became one later).

People claim Thoyer haven't developed any pitchers since coming to the Cubs, and I'm wondering what farm system they think Hendricks played in.

Mostly because they were already balling out in the Rangers system. There was no switch that turned on upon them coming to the Cubs. Hendricks would never be a top 100 prospect because he doesn't sit above 90 with his FB. Edwards needed to prove himself more to the list makers, as he was a really late round pick, who had not been scouted much at all. Those types have to sustain success a lot longer.
