I know it isn't over yet, and this is certainly an overreaction, but I think I'm ready for Version 2.0 of this Cubs team, kind of like the Blackhawks constant refreshing of their roster (for different reasons I know). We have to get more consistency in the lineup somehow. I don't know if just running the same offense out again next year with an improved bullpen is going to cut it.

 

 

I mean obviously you aren't touching Rizzo, Bryant, Russell, Contreras, or Schwarber (maybe Schwarber isn't as obvious). Baez took huge steps forward this season but has been a no-show in the playoffs. You hope he and Almora can continue a positive trajectory. Zobrist and Heyward can GTFO. Play Happ more. There isn't too much you really can or want to mess with.

I think this is part of the crapshoot playoffs. You’re whole lineup can go cold at once.

 

You hope young players keep getting better.

i figured we'd lose the series, because the series against washington was pretty grueling and our bats were cold and the dodgers are legitimately very good. but i was hoping we wouldn't stink up the joint like we did against the mets in 2015.

Things I will not watch:

 

-A Dodgers/Yankees World Series

The Cubs are going to be in the world series no matter what. I'm just not sure yet whether it will be against the Yankees/Astros or the Indians.
