Crap, didn't realize he's a FA. The off-field stuff was just weed, right? If its not just that, my opinion would have changed on that end too.

Yeah, but 1 more failed drug test away from a year suspension.

My biggest issue is trading a pick (likely a 4th, i'd guess) for him and he could walk after the season, one which the Bears aren't going anywhere, despite Rodgers being out. And if he's OK and not great (like he's been this year and his whole career), then what do you pay him? He's probably a 1-year "prove it" deal type of guy but would he take that from a rebuilding team w/ a developing QB vs. a team w/ a more proven QB situation and better chance to win?

Of course, if he wants a chance to win.....why does he want out of Pittsburgh?

Is that what it is or is he frustrated with the lack of targets b/c everything goes to Brown?

If he wants to be a #1, no better place than Chicago.

Yeah, he's upset about not getting the ball. Ben pretty much only ever looks for Antonio Brown. But still, pretty messed up to demand a trade from a contending team that stuck by you when you missed a year because you can't pass a piss test.

I'm not sure if Trubisky is slow on his reads. I feel like it's more of the fact of the WRs inability to create separation and he's trying to give them more time to do so.

I think it's *mostly* the receivers. But not all.

Well, it's the offense and its nuance. Trubisky is being asked to recognize when his receivers are going to come open and trust them to beat their men. With repetition, they get a feel for this, building trust and chemistry with their receivers. However, it's really tough when no one can come open or look like they're going to come open.

Are some guys getting open on certain plays? Yes, but when you're past that read and you don't know what your receiver looks like when they're about to come open, it's tough.

But, he's going to have to learn this nuance, so it's not going to look extremely pretty for a while. With Watson, he has a dynamic playcaller that's able to minimize the recognition on his progressions and highlight what he does best. Trubisky doesn't have that luxury, but also, learning what he's not good at yet is the essence of development.

I hope so if you're running 40 times a game.

Being that predictable doesn't make it easier to run.

Not saying that. Just saying because of volume. When you run that many times, you're going to rack up yards. It's still impressive because of the 8-9 man fronts they see. How do we rank in carries in NFC and NFL?

Looks like they're still top 10 in YPC. So it's not entirely on volume, but they have some more efficiency to meet Tim's metrics for elite rushing attack.

It's only one metric, but DVOA has the Bears as 19th in rush offense rank for DVOA. (Somehow they aren't 32 in pass DVOA) and their rankings look pretty much in line with last years rankings* (rush DVOA as 18th overall with Howard as 9th overall (10th overall this year)).

*This year's rankings are still weighted 30% on predictions which presumably then are still being influenced a lot with last year's rankings. Also opponent strength is 50% weighted at this point in the rankings.

At the end of the day, this elite debate sucks kind of hard. Overall we stink and that's the most important thing.

Can anybody tell me why Wright is playing 30% of the snaps when Gentry and McBride are about 90%?

Develop the young guys. Gentry and McBride having something resembling a Cam Meredith is our slim hope of a good passing attack next year.

While I get that it's important for those guys to develop, it's more important IMO for Mitch to have targets that have the highest probability of getting open on the field as much as possible, no?

I have doubts that Fox is basing playing time on who needs more developmental time.

If you're running 40 times per game, that's a lot of first downs.

I mean you understand that teams don't just get a set allotment of plays every game, right?

Next year? What

I mean Wright is probably our only legit NFL WR at this point, even if he prob maxes out as a good slot. The only logical explanation for those guys getting most of the reps is development based.
