Game 3: Team With No Mitch (PIT) @ Team With Mitch That Doesn't Play (CHI) Noon CBS

I know jersey normally starts this, but I'm anxious to have another thread to talk about how sucky the Bears are.

I'm seeing Steelers -7.5 on the road which seems a tad high to me even considering the Bears suckiness

This will be the unexpectedly fluke win to keep Glennon in there until the bye week, and make ownership think the team is closer than it really is.

OK, all you Captain Stubbinsky fans explain to me why you want him playing out there already on a team that's apparently made up of Popsicle sticks and knockoff Go-Bot figures. Like, isn't the OL decimated and all of the WR spontaneously combusted? What the heck is he going to do out there besides trying to not get killed?

the sooner he gets in, the sooner he gets injured, the sooner we can move on from fox, the sooner pace can hire another head coach, the sooner that can fail and we can get a new GM, the sooner that GM can spend 3 years figuring out which QB to draft, the sooner we can be done with all of this

I still think the defense is fine. if Kyle Long comes back next week at a level resembling himself, and Sitton doesn't miss time, the run blocking and protection will be better. the receivers are still less than garbage, but you could argue that a QB that can make plays will make anyone and everyone better, including the run game and the receivers.

And again, the defense seems to be fairly decent if they don't have to make up for the QB turning the ball over all of the time.

So, there's a glimmer of hope if Trubisky plays.

as far as the coaching staff goes, Fox is the only one we can really evaluate as being bad. we can't judge Loggains, as his QB kept getting intercepted on short passes or fumbling when he drifts aimlessly into the pass rushing lanes. Fangio is fine.

I'd probably be looking for an up-and-coming OC or Payton himself. but I'd see if the coach would be open to keeping Fangio. if not, not a huge thing.

It's top shelf and should be his official nickname now and forever.

Mr. Biscuit is so much better. Also, Lou Gehrig used to be called Biscuit Pants cuz his butt stuck out. Does Trubisky's butt stick out?

but his name sounds like mr. biscuit, I guess.

stubbinsky, that's not even close. are you going for the love boat connection? I'm not even really sure you're making fun of anyone.

anyway, I predict the bears lose by 4 touchdowns with the lone highlight being a sack by Floyd on the first play of the game and him being injured on it as well.

Calm down, you crush-addled manbaby. Nobody is taking away your precious Mr. Bisquick.

And then when walking off the field, he slams his helmet in frustration which hits his backup, also injuring him for the season.

A giant anvil falls on Trubisky on the sidelines and the "play Trubisky" crowd is validated.

yeah, trubisky's skill set is such that he can at least somewhat alleviate or mask the problems of receivers who can't get open and what is right now a leaky offensive line (that reads like sarcasm but i actually mean it) by giving guys more time to get open and evading the rush himself. being athletic and being able to accurately throw on the run is basically a 180 from what is going on right now and that should bring some level of respectability to the passing game. that's not, by any means, to say that he won't have rookie struggles.

anyway, having some level of competence in the passing game will open up the run game. there's not an offensive line/running back combo on the planet that will have success when you're as predictable as the bears are right now by having a statuesque qb who refuses to attempt a throw beyond the first down marker.

This seems like one of those seasons where the Bears do the opposite of what you think (except win mind you, that would be insane).

Everyone thought they'd get beaten decisively against Atlanta, they almost won. Everyone expected a competitive game vs. TB and some even predicted win and they were absolutely embarrassed. Now everyone is expecting a blowout.

I'm going Steelers 24 Bears 20
