What the hell was Joe doing not playing Schwarber over the weekend?

I didn't get that other, the only thing I can think is Schwarbs was nursing some sort of minor injury and/or they were really working on him in Theo's secret lab on something and they wanted to give him through the off day yesterday for it to take.

How was this guy ever good.

It is a shame that he has gone Adam Warren because a good late inning lefty would have been useful in a few weeks against the Nats and maybe the Dodgers.

Well let's hope Wilson is Adam Warren because I'd definitely take a 2.40 ERA over 60 innings from a lefty reliever next year.

Also, Wilson's last 150 innings before joining the Cubs were pretty impressive, so I'm not going to write him off for 12 innings where he's clearly mentally screwed up.

He was obviously talking about how Warren immediately turned to garbage after getting to the Cubs, and not what Adam Warren is doing this year, which is just a heaping helping of salt on that particular wound (NEVER 4GET U, STARLIN).

And "mentally screwed up?" Seems a lot more simple to blame it on his shitty pitching thus far as a Cub.

And I was making the point that relievers are dumb and fickle, and we shouldn't be writing this dude off because of 12 innings of work. Unless you think his skill level is 10 walks per 9 innings, which goes against everything he's done the rest of his career, it's clear he's dealing with something mentally (or possibly mechanically). His hard contact is down compared to when he was on the Tigers, and he hasn't given up a home run yet.

Yes, everyone understands sample size.

People are going to vent when a big pitching acquisition has been THIS terrible as soon as he joined the team. It's swell he hasn't given up a HR yet, but that's small comfort when pretty much every other key stat looks like garbage since he became a Cub. He's just pitching like absolute butt right now, and you can stuff your sorries in a sack, pal.

The Cubs, when publicly speaking on this, continue to say that he's just not trusting his stuff enough and needs to stop nibbling. Bosio alluded to it just this morning, saying that he has a lot of movement and needs to stop trying to be so fine and throw it over the plate because it won't be easy to hit.

All of his discipline numbers are taking a horsefeathers as a Cub

Oswing down from 31 to 22

Zswing up from 67 to 72

Ocontact way up from 65 to 79

Zcontact up from 73 to 80

Total contact from 70 to 80

Zone down from 47 to 44

Somehow he's throwing more first pitch strikes from 51 to 55

Swstr from 14 to 9

That all spells trouble

That all spells trouble

1. It is 12 innings

2. All this does is counter the argument that Wilson has been unlucky, which no one is making

3. It is 12 innings and therefore is impossible to be predictive given Wilson's larger body of work

4. Sometimes I wish pitch f/x had never been invented

5. 12 innings

I was only pointing it out to illustrate how out of whack it's been compared to the bigger, much better sample. When I said it spells trouble I didn't mean that it spelled trouble moving forward; I see how it reads like that though. I should have worded it better. I was just basically saying that when all of those factors converge, you're probably not gonna have much success (in that sample)

Don't listen to these yammering Pollyannas; Montgomery being banished back to the pen is likely due in no small part to how hopelessly terrible Wilson has looked, and he deserves nothing but scorn.
