So looking at it from a Cub-centric point of view, it seems as if the Yankees paid way less for him than the Cubs did for Quintana. True?

 

And if so, since we trust the Cubs front office, does that mean that Theo feels that Quintana is significantly better than Gray?

Yes, The Cubs paid more because Quintana is better and more durable.

Yes, The Cubs paid more because Quintana is better and more durable.

 

And durable probably being the bigger factor of the two.

I get the intrigue with the assets and I'm not nearly as high in Gray as others, but I thought Yankees got a steal here. I'm not sure I've ever cared for Kaprelian as a midrotation arm, and Mateo needs a lot of time.
