There we go! Rucker gets moved into the rotation. Be interesting to see the rest of the shake out, with Morrison on the DL.

Rucker is replacing Oscar de la Cruz, who went on the Myrtle Beach DL.

Raisin beat me.

Seriously? Hannemann? All the WTF's. Maybe its just to get Burks time in CF though.

And Tennessee's DH is rained out. Maybe its just me, but it seems like they've been on a Daytona type rainout schedule this year.

I know. Preston Morrison went on Tennessee's DL too. So, someone's gotta take his place. I posted somewhere about the options yesterday. In the end, I figured it was probably Kellogg. With Robinson moving up to MB. Think slight chance of just moving Robinson straight to Tennessee too.

I don't think anyone at MB deserves a promotion (too early for Alzolay, who is the closest to being ready). I assume they'll just plug in Pugliese in the Tennessee rotation.

So, Rucker ain't disappointing in his first start..... 5 1 0 0 1 6, on 60 pitches so far. Daaaaaamn.

Edit: final line actually.

I really cannot wait for Amaya to play real games stateside. I'm obviously excited for that group of 2015 IFAs (Paredes, Amaya, Albertos, Gutierrez, Marquez, Carrera, Ocampo, Sierra), but going all the way back to 2015 the stuff on Amaya's been nothing but outstanding. The things I've read, his performance, the one thing I heard right after he signed make it seem like he might really be one of the good ones. All I'm asking the universe for here is Yadier Molina 2.0, nothing crazy or anything. The best part is that all eggs aren't in one basket - all of those guys are on terrific pro tracks as of today. Obviously it doesn't take much for any of them to fall off that track, most will fall off quickly this year, but right now this small group of players is a huge part of what's keeping me interested in the farm this season. There's a stud in that bunch, just a matter of time and game reps before the reveal.

One of the bloggers, AZPhil or Arguello, mentioned that the DSL1 team is more talented than the DSL2 team the other day. I'm not sure I agree just off that roster being a little older with more second timers. The DSL2 club offers all the youngest players between the two teams plus the top performing repeater from last year (Orian Nunez). Nunez went 3/5 today with a triple, has come out hot, and should see the AZL this year. He's hitting third, the two guys in front of him are 2 of the 5 or so youngest players in the org. They swing and miss more than last year's group of 17 YOs, not encouraging. There's still the 17 YO lefty to debut, the youngest pitcher and second youngest player in the org.

It's been awhile, so I may be off about this, but back in the Hendry era, IIRC, they generally put the better/more developed players on DSL1, I believe, while, I think DSL2 was used more as an acclimating environment/teaching area. Again, been awhile and obviously a different regime, so I may be off about it, and no clue what Arguello or AzPhil are referencing, but off the top, that's how I remembered it from back then.

Agree, toonster, I think that's how it's continued. D1 is usually the more "winning" roster, as relates both to experience and sometimes talent. My recall is that D1 has tended to have both more 2nd-year guys who'd looked interesting; and more of the $$$-first-year guys. In the latter, it may be that the bigger-ticket guys are inherently not just more talented, but may also just be more smooth and polished and confident and ready.

There have been a number of times when a pitcher who started D2 and was doing well, would get "promoted" to D1. And most of the promotions to Mesa are D1 guys.

Not excellent analogy, but something like Myrtle to South Bend, or Eugene to Mesa. (Obviously poor analogy, since both D1 and D2 face the same league and competition in actual games.)

I think it also probably goes with the territory that some of the D1 guys are 2nd-year (or sometimes even 3rd-year) guys. Perhaps more physically mature and more baseball polished and more ready to win DSL games; but in terms of big-league potential, you kinda figure anybody who isn't good enough for Mesa by 2nd year, probably isn't going to ever hit the majors. Having 2nd year guys might give D1 a better W-L record; but kinda hard to get very fired up for a 2nd-year guy who wasn't good enough for Mesa and age-wise a year old as well.
