I'm guessing KB had a few too many O'Doul's the other night

Either that or the Cubs are like "haha how cute you think you have a shot at the division, we will beat you without the NL MVP"

weird thing is kb sounded completely fine and normal on his radio spot with bernstein and goff yesterday

Doesn't even need to have been intentional. Could have just drank the tap water or worse yet, ordered toasted ravioli.

Ranking of NL Central specialty foods (excluding Chicago deep dish because no contest):

1) Milwaukee Brat

2) Pittsburgh Primanti Bros sandwhich

3) St Louis Toasted Ravioli

4) Cincinnati Chili

I'll accept Italian beef as Chicago's submission. I prefer thin crust over deep dish as well but I still enjoy a quality slice of deep dish

I currently work at a place that makes chicago dogs and italian beefs in Maryland. Beefs should win forever.

Also, I went to school at the University of Pittsburgh and have to agree, Primanti Bros kinda sucks. It's just really peppery coleslaw and fries on a plain ass sandwich.

Toasted ravioli are just pizza rolls that take way too damn long to make. Very enjoyable to eat, but hilariously stupid to prop up as an example of a city's "cuisine." It would be like someone acting like chicken nuggets are a local delicacy.

i had had them many times before i found out (on nsb) that it's a st louis thing

Yeah, I like toasted ravioli, but Sosa's point is spot on. They are basically dive bar food here in Central Illinois -- on par with mini tacos and mozzarella sticks -- and we're not exactly known for our cuisine. For a city to be known for that is a sad, sad thing.

Pizza puffs I believe are local to Chicago. I don't see Chicago prop those up like St Louis does toasted ravioli. I think that's why people laugh when that horsefeathers town does that.

Man, we're having a lot of minor issues at the same time.

Heyward is due to come off the DL on Tuesday I think, I hope his sprained finger is healed.

Not surprised about the rash of dings. We were so, so lucky last year (besides 1 major injury), some reversal of fortune was to be expected.

As long as the arms stay healthy we can weather the storm. Plus we get to watch Candy and Happ in the big league lineup. That's gonna be fun.

We did lose Fowler for almost a month with injury, Strop for a month, Rondon for a few weeks and lackey missed a few starts on the DL but yeah relatively speaking we were very fortunate injury wise
