Well there's something:

12th highest rated FA CB according to PFF

well, he grades out at 81, which is above average. Good signing considering what's left.

Him and Lattimore (not saying I'm committed to that idea) and that secondary looks pretty damn solid all of a sudden as long as Demps doesn't completely fall off a cliff.

Fuller might still be a competent guy in that mix as well.

Fuller could be a decent slot guy

You've got to go find an actual WR at this point. It'd be nice to upgrade Massie too, but I'm not sure that player exists in FA now. I'd take a flyer on Kelvin Beachum though. Nice upside play that I bet would wind up taking a starting spot, if he's healthy and motivated.

Would Pryor take a Alshon deal? I'm guessing the multi year deals wont give him the AAV he wants. Worth a gamble?

I have no idea. It kind of bugs me Cleveland didn't wrap him up early, because he wanted to stay. Do they know something? At any rate, its just day 2 and I'm probably thinking too hard on that. I know I'd love to get him on a 3 year deal or so.

woah...is this a reflection of how that labrum is doing?

:-k

Its probably a more technical thing. I dont think he'd be scheduled to be healthy anyways. As is, dont think he even has guarantees for injury.

Huh, on Patterson. He had a big rebound year, no?

The horsefeathering optimist in me still sees quite a few interesting options left for the Bears.....

WR- Its Pryor. Or bust. My guess is Kendall Wright may be the outcome, or Patterson. At least Patterson could seriously help the return game.....

S- I'm intrigued with bringing Jairus Byrd in.....He could bounce back and probably has more upside than any DB, outside of the top corners....

DL- Hankins, Poe, and Bennie Logan are sitting there. Any of the 3 would be an extremely solid addition. I think I'd put adding one of them on a par with adding Pryor actually.

OT- Beachum getting healthy could be huge for our O-Line. If we add here, I'd rather take a shot like this, than take a prototypical swing guy.

At any rate, if Pace could somehow add Pryor, one of the DL's, and Beachum.....This off season is completely back on track.

No interest in Robinson?

I can't find his PFF grades for 2016, but it doesn't look like he was in need of a rebound going in based on this

He was hurt quite a bit last year. The games he played I saw a lot of criticism, but I wasn't watching closely enough to know if it was warranted or not. His release is probably the biggest bit of caution. The release only saved the team 2.5 million against the cap, while the Colts have plenty of money and don't exactly have a deep CB group. And their new GM is unproven but well respected. Teams make mistakes all the time and he still could be good, but those are not good signs.

If he's cheap, then sure. I think I'm kind of OK going into the season with Amukamara, Fuller, Porter, Leblanc, Callahan, Hall and a draft pick as an entire group. The talent is there, its just a matter of finding a breakout guy among them, to pair with Amukamara.

Hell, cut Porter, and I'm still fine with the group.

If you DO add a guy at this point, it may take you completely out of drafting one, in a super strong year. I think I'd rather have the draft pick used on one, than another signing.

Not sure Wright is worth it after Wheaton. A little duplicative unless those guys can be ST standouts... Wheaton has had some KR experience... depends on cost/guarantee, if its a prove it deal, sure. Patterson could be a better Thompson at least.

Byrd, again probably depnds on cost. Dont want a ton of money tied up in a aging S duo.

Broken record, but cost matters on the DL guys too. With Poe theres back issues, and with any of them they are potentially just part time rotation guys. Definitely need depth, but to replace Cornwash we also need to replace ST snaps.

I'd add Reiff to Beachum, and I think we have been rumored to be interested.

thanks.

i was thinking it might be another opportunity to jump on a good player like with freeman last year and later sitton.

I'm not really worried about cap room honestly. Between Houston, Royal, and Porter, that's 13 mill more to use. And if you find a OT by tomorrow, Massie saves you another 5 mill. Edited by davell

New #Bears QB Mike Glennon will make $16 million in first year of 3-year, $45M deal -- $3M signing bonus, $5M roster bonus, $8M gtd salary.

Glennon can earn another $2.5M in incentives in 2017. If not, he gets that $2.5M as a roster bonus in March. So $18.5M in first 12 months.

Totally good with this contract

Yea structure is fine as expected. I know that some people scoffed since other teams backed out at 8-10M, but the higher AAV was almost certain to come with added team flexibility that probably wouldn't have existed on a smaller AAV deal.

They're probably in a pretty good spot, pending details of all the deals, but Pryor alone could make the rest of the deals a lot tighter. Remember their draft class is going to cost them almost 10M, and a 3-5M reserve is probably a realistic expectation. All those guys they can cut only make sense at this point if signing direct replacements, IMO.

Pryor left WAS without deal, but I'm not seeing many Bears rumblings either... just one source from yesterday I think, some guy Erik Lambert, no idea if hes legit; writes for Sports Mockery.

have we talked about how spectacular of a train wreck the redskins are?

To help make us feel better?

not even. it would warrant discussion either way. who fires their GM the first day of free agency? lmao

apparently he is the only guy in the org that their franchise qb, who they seem to be doing everything possible to alienate, even liked too

(there's also no NFL general offseason thread that i'm aware of so i figured i'd bring it up here since this thread was moving)

i can't say that i know mike mayock would be a bad GM, but that part is still pretty funny too
