8 seasons over .500 over the last 25 years.

3 of those 8 seasons were 9-7 seasons.

The Bears are a dreg team.

1994 9-7

1995 9-7

2001 13-3

2005 11-5

2006 13-3

2008 9-7

2010 11-5

2012 10-6

Add to it, 2001 was a total fluke, the 2012 team started at 7-1 and tanked. I really liked the 2011 team until Cutler went down. They were 7-3 at the time before finishing 8-8

The Jets had Favres dong, Rex and the buttfumble and some OK teams sprinkled in here or there

The Rams don't count yet

We haven't even been on Hard Knocks!

i know this was a half serious post but the bears went to a superbowl and had a bunch of other ok teams under lovie, remember?

Outside of the Bears losing that SB, there isn't much, if any, of a gulf between the Bears and the Jets over the last 15 years.

weren't pretty much all of those in the last 15?

including a superbowl and nfccg appearance?

i'm not gonna split hairs, yeah, if you go back to 1992, they're like a tier above the browns. going back about 15 years it's considerably less dismal, imo.

5 seasons above .500 in the last 15 years, with one of those being 9-7. Still sounds pretty horsefeathers. At best they spent a good chunk of that time hovering around 8-8.

horsefeathers, in my mind the 2011 and 12 teams were still really good. i've kinda blacked out the post jay disastrous collapse of 2011. like i know it happened but i still think back like it was a good team.

I was at that game and didn't even know anything about Cutler being hurt until like 10pm that night when I got home

I said most nondescript not least effective. The Bears have perfected the art of being largely anonymous and never funbad.

how can the team with jay cutler for the past 8 years be considered anonymous?

one of the biggest lightning rods in the nfl.

We should definitely take a stab at Josh Gordon imo

I was told that blocking a 6th WR was too big of a risk.

I'm surprised at how many of you guys want us to blow our load in FA, which is generally an absolutely terrible plan.

This is dumb and wrong.

The idea that smart teams don't spend in free agency is dumb and wrong. You have to spend in free agency to compete. There is no such thing as a purely draft driven team. Cap space can and should be used to acquire the best players possible.

Well of course no team is purely draft driven and we're obviously not now as it stands and never will be so I don't mean that...

But I find paying decent players like they're the best at their position a little concerning.

Gilmore was good one year and average the next. No idea what you're gonna get. And how do we possibly beat the Pats in any race like that... I thought we were a longshot as it was. Not surprised Pace couldnt land him.

So we move on to Bouye, who is a good cover guy but doesn't make many plays on the ball. He really doesn't move the needle much for us IMO.

But I like the second wave of FA and Pace has shown he does as well. There's still plenty of time to upgrade the team without handing out huge contracts to questionable players.

Man, you are WAY too forgiving of a team/organization that does not deserve it at all.
