Bill Polian has been rumored for a job with the Bears and then distanced himself from the role, which technically doesn't exist.

I'm really getting curious about how this offseason is going to go, in terms of overhaul. There's been very little noise suggesting Pace or Fox are on the hot seat, which is surprising considering how bad this team is. People keep insisting these guys are "trying hard" and somehow magically coming up short, which I assume is how they are going to sell the "stay the course" story if that is how they go.

If Pace doesn't replace Fox this offseason, then I think next year all of their jobs are on the line.

Perhaps they're getting a pass because of all the injuries. They shouldn't but it's not unreasonable to give them the first 4 games of next season. Or maybe the plan was to tank this year so they could draft Cutler's replacement.

Given where the Bears will be drafting, I'd be upset if they took a QB in the first round.

He actually was contacted by the 49ers yesterday after Vance McDonald got put on IR. He was told if he got there yesterday and learned the playbook this week, he would start on Sunday for them. The only problem is it was a 1-year deal and he would be a FA after the year and play for a dumpster fire of an organization. He actually asked my advice and I told him to stay in Minnesota, with the guarantees and have a chance at the playoffs/championship. (To be fair, his agent also recommended he stay and I was his like 8th opinion. LOL). So, the Bears called this AM and gave him more of a guarantee for the future, and even though they are bad they did beat the Niners by like 20 last week and are not quite a disaster for the immediate future.

Hopefully over the next 3 weeks the Bears give him a legit shot to catch the ball. I'm completely biased, but the kid can play. 4.58 in the 40, great after the catch. Just needs a chance. Had a good rapport with Bridgewater in camp and was working with the 1s a lot. But then sprained/tore his left MCL in the preseason. Missed 4-5 weeks. Came back for 2-3 weeks, then hurt his other MCL. When he got healthy, Norv Turner (the man responsible for drafting him in Minnesota) left as the OC, and MyCole was a few days later. Landed on the practice squad and has been itching to play ever since.

I went down a youtube rabbit hole of Devin Hester returns for TDs. I really miss the Bears being good.

The most amazing thing about most of those returns is that they were one-cut and taken to the house. His vision was unparralleled. He made it look so easy . On top of all the scores, he had several more called back for penalties (some phantom calls) and many where he took it inside the 20 (and a few where he chose the wrong lane and might have missed out on more scores).

His TD/return is unbelievable.

Also, Pace's 2016 draft was pretty horsefeathering good, looking back. PFF ranks 2 bears as top 10 rookies, which doesn't count Floyd, Bullard, Kwiatkowski, and Bush who look pretty good as well.

He's got 6 solid starters from this year's draft, which is a lot better than any draft his predecessors had. I doubt Pace goes anywhere any time soon.

Yea, he definitely has given himself some breathing room. Although, you are overstating "6 solid starters." I count three. The other three you listed don't have a large enough body of work to make any definitive statements like that.

2015 still could shake out to be a decent draft, though right now has been pretty hampered by injury.

If he ruins the draft positioning I will never forgive you!

That's what I'm saying. Be awesome, but if you break us, go dig your own pit

The other Bears get it and will show him how to lose with style aka drop a sure game winning TD or on a big offensive play late in the game grab onto the nearest defender and hold on for dear life.

Bring in the Polian as an advisor especially with scouting current NFL players.

Give Harbaugh whatever he would want.

I can't imagine Fox coming back.

I would put my life savings on Harbaugh staying at Michigan in the short term (at least the next 2-3 seasons). Seriously even if you offered him $15m a year, I don't think he bolts. Those jobs will still be there in 3-4 years and I don't believe he thinks he's accomplished anything yet coaching his alma mater (no playoffs, no OSU wins) but he's getting close.

If the Bears parted with Fox this offseason, I think we are looking at Josh McDaniels or Vic Fangio as the best possible options.

There doesn't seem to be much smoke for Fox being on the hot seat. I sure hope he is, but it seems like far from a certainty to me.
