It might have been but he's with the Blues now. Hopefully Yakupov is as lazy and disinterested as they say he is.

It's sounding more and more like Forsling is making the team. Fortin will get 9 games to show what he can do.

I think the Yakupov trade could be interesting. Edmonton is not a great environment. I could see him improving on a team that has more accountability. Certainly a decent gamble for the Blues. Also think it was interesting that 2 days ago it sounded like a done deal to the Hawks...but then the Blues swoop in. Think the Blues were concerned about the Hawks acquiring a player with his talent level and made a bigger offer.

I think the Oil wanted Pokka and the Hawks wouldn't do it. That's not something I read anywhere just speculation but it makes sense since their defense is awful.

Puck on!

I keep forgetting with all this Cubs madness going on. I've barely watched the preseason.

Anyone want to help me with projected lines/pairings, or some insight into who to be excited about based on the play in camp?

Being outshot 35-20...had a 70 second span where we committed 3 penalties and the third happened right as we scored so we kept the 2 man advantage. It's just one game but there will probably be growing pains with this team

The lines are really anybody's guess. There will probably be a lot of flux since Q wants balance but that means breaking up the superpak line (Kane-Anisimov-Panarin). Schmaltz is likely the best RW of the young guys and Motte the best on the LW. Tootoo is this year's designated guy that the fans will hate because he's there to bring grit, sandpaper, etc. Hossa might get moved to Kruger's wing if someone else shows they deserve a spot of Toews' wing.

On the defensive side, Kempny and Forsling have good passing skills and instincts but are likely to struggle a little bit in their own end. Edzo will blame that on Campbell because REASONS! TVR sucks and Roszy is old.

I still love the Blackhawks but early season hockey remains a bore and I'm really glad the Cubs are here to distract me since I know the Bears won't be come November.

Yep. It's gonna take me a while to fully invest in hockey this year.

I hate to sound like a spoiled fan but yeah. I'll get invested in January when its cold outside and nothing to do. Hopefully they will be better by then.

The last few years, as sad as it sounds, has taught me that the regular season is pretty meaningless. Nothing wrong with being a spoiled fan when it's true.

Conversely, April baseball games fall short of attention levels compared to hockey. No one should blame anyone for not playing close attention to October hockey. Mid November for that matter.

Is this team bad?

I don't think it's bad. There is talent just a lot of new young guys. There will be growing pains. Don't base an opinion on playing 2 teams that are legit contenders in the west.

Half the teams make the playoffs. Regular season hockey and basketball are boring because of this.

Also they didn't have a real training camp due to late arrivals from their" national" teams. I think this would affect the Hawks more since they are working in a lot of young guys.

hawks came down from 2 goals in the last couple minutes to win in a shootout, and i didn't even remember they existed until about 5 hours after it happened
