That title doesn't even make sense from an English standpoint. He's referring to the critical moments from today (that they came up short In), which absolutely can't prove pivotal in October. If you were to go with "Cubs tendency to come up short in critical moments..." or "Cubs come up short in critical moments, doing so in October may prove pivotal" (which, obviously). I know it's tedious, but the dude is a freaking journalist.
