Rofl I can't believe people are blaming this on Chapman. Blame the botched relay throw. Also if Heyward is playing RF there you have runners at 2nd and 3rd and the possibility he still saves this game. Also blame the other shitty defensive plays this game. They haven't lost many games due to sloppy defense this year. This was definantly one of those games.

The Cubs are now 2-2 in games where I go to bed before the outcome is decided. Waking up at 5 and finding out they won is more fun but ultimately losing sucks less than staying up and watching it.

This loss lowers the Cubs winning percentage to .824 in August.

 

They're now 69-4 when leading after 7 how are you NOT panicking?!?!?!

 

That stat is crazy just because 3 of those 4 losses have come during a 18-4 stretch. And the 4th loss in the stretch was a game we led after 6. You would think those losses would have come in games before we fortified the pen or at least not during an otherwise perfect stretch of baseball (although our pen has been missing Strop and Rondon for half the stretch and "fortified" really means Chapman who blew 2 of the losses and Montgomery who hasn't really pitched in high leverage situations since coming here)

Also for those ripping on Chapman (which is fine because of his off field issues) remember that he was pitching in his 4th game in 4 days and threw 24 pitches the day prior. He is almost certainly unavailable for today's game

I get trying to ride a rental and he had little choice yesterday, but Maddon's usage of Chapman has been Dusty-esque at best and completely careless at worst. He's thrown like 2? Pitches of 100 or more all week.
