I don't understand why Joe wouldn't be willing to use Chapman when the heart of the order is coming up in the eighth.

Closers with the resume of Chapman don't get used in setup situations. That's just the way it is, no matter how progressive the manager is.

I think he should use him, and I think he would've been willing to go for the 2 inning save until he blew the game against the Mariners. after that it came out that chapman doesn't like coming in in the 8th inning and that maddon said he hadn't known that.

At least it seems that way in the regular season. I bet he'd have used Arnoldis there if this waste WS.

fitting typo because this trade was even more of a complete waste if maddon doesn't, in the playoffs at least, use chapman in a more creative way than "9th inning with 1-3 run lead"

The more I see the Strop play the more I think it's either his ankle or Achilles and not a knee injury.

I don't think its his achilles cause he took a couple of steps afterwards and was in some pain, with achilles he doesn't ever make it off of the ground. I'm thinking hamstring or quad. Hoping for cramps.

This is true. A snapped Achilles and he would have immediately hit the ground.

how the hell is it possible for one guy to be lapping the field in velo the way chapman does? it's really insane.

Not that it retroactively makes the trade better. If you thought it was too much value, this probably doesn't change that fact. But, imagine Strop and Rondon being down and us not having Chapman.

He's not getting carried off the field for a cramp
