It's because their start raised the expectations to the point where you expect them to dominate every night. Instead you've gotten a .500ish team since mid May. Like I've said in past game threads almost every good team goes through a long stretch of .500 ball. The hope is they will hit their stride again in August and cruise to the playoffs

I prefer them cranking in September. Those are the teams that seem to do well in the playoffs

We are the 1984 tigers so we're gonna win it all.

I believe there is little to no correlation to how well a team is doing in September, or any other month or selected stretch of time, and having success in the playoffs.

well yeah, we have an awesome team, which is why it's less fun when they're simply okay for long stretches. i think we should be wrecking fools but it just never seems to happen that way, and we slowly drift farther away from the record we thought/hope they'd have.

I mean, we had an amazing 24-6 start, and then had a similar stretch that practically cancelled it out. I knew we were going to regress a bit, but regression doesn't mean 'the opposite of unsustainable play.'

Well, that's not true.

rondon fan just called you out for being overly pessimistic. time for a time out.

Of course not. I expected this response from this board. It is just the way it rolls.

Last year the cardinals crawled to the finish line and we pounded them. The mets also ended very strong.

I am sure the math does back it up but it sure seems that way.

I'm backing to irrationally wanting Joe to yell at people.

instead just go sit in a corner for a few minutes. i bet it helps.

Maybe we should just forfeit the next 5 games and get the whole team 5 days rest like Kaplan said Heyward needed. Then, BOOM, Super Cubs are back
