How on [expletive] earth is this season getting disappointing? Bc we aren't going to win 117 games? Smdh. We have a double digit lead in the division, are almost guaranteed to go the playoffs, are slumping yes, but while plagued w position player injuries at least. We have young guys coming up balling. I don't get Cubs fans.

Every team in sports has fans who do the freak out thing when a slump happens.

Nobody in baseball has hit more home runs than Kris Bryant has this year. No one in the National League has hit as many HRs as Kris Bryant this year.

Beast mode engaged.

perspective is the only reason i said it. they're having a great season because of the scorching start, but they've been disappointing for like 2 months now. the fact that we're keeping our 10 game lead due to playing in a terrible division doesn't make the mediocrity any less disheartening.

We have the best record in baseball and are going to win over 100 games. I don't find that disheartening.

you know exactly what i'm saying. you don't have to pretend like you haven't been disappointed in the team lately.

Lately? Sure. To say this is turning into a disappointing season though is strange.

You are a good poster not known for overreacting though so I'm gonna assume you just meant this stretch is disappointing.

I'm disappointed that they've been losing more lately. They are better than this. And I am always upset about losing. I wouldn't say that I am upset with the season, though, when we are 20+ games over .500, have the division wrapped up already, and have a ton of exciting, good young players.

i shouldn't have said the season overall is getting disappointing. i meant that it's been trending in a disappointing direction. it's not just the stretch of mediocrity, it's a bunch of small disappointments piling up, like the middle relief, jake, and heyward.

I just feel ready for October. I have no doubt we will win our division. Hoping we can shore things up a bit by the trading deadline to get even stronger.

The only thing I'm sad about is that we don't see the machine-like offense every night where pitchers needed 70 pitches to get through 4 1/3. But that's tough to keep up. It was fun, though.

It will come back eventually and it will be glorious. We need to get guys healthy, for sure. Dex being back will help that. Heyward needs to get his head out of his ass. That will allow other guys to go into mini-slumps and us still be alright. But we are always frightening with Bryzzo in the lineup.

We'll be back to that death machine lineup eventually, though.

Keep in mind the Mets just came off a 4 game losing streak that included a Nats 3 game sweep where the Mets scored a total of 6 runs. But I guess the Nats didn't throw a sh!tstick named Hammel out there

And here we go. Let's pray the Mets miss the playoffs.

You are the absolute worst.

You really feel good about playing these guys in October?

One million percent yes. The Cubs are the best team in the National League, and no others are particularly close. While no playoff series is much better than a 60/40 or 65/35 proposition, there are no terrifying teams to the 2016 Cubs. Most especially not this Mets team.

Um, yes. Their former Golden Boy, Harvey, sucks. Their new two young studs have to go to the hospital every time they pitch. And their offense is putrid. There's a reason they are barely .500.

It's hard to know. We can lose or beat anyone during five or six days in October.

I know it all adds up correctly in the end, but how do the Cubs play 20 of 26 on the road and come back home for three only to go back on the road? (I don't count the Atlanta game as it wasn't part of original sked).
