So I split a nights-weekends with 3 other people. As such we get 2 tickets to 2 games per series. All along the plan was to sell all the tickets, then if somebody wanted to go, they could use that money to buy tickets for themselves. Today the one girl threw a wrinkle in and proposed a lottery followed by a draft. Basically draw numbers 1-4, draft 4 of the games, sell any remainders.

I drew 2nd pick. I absolutely have to pick a world series game right? Even knowing that NLDS is the only game that's guaranteed?

If your goal is to maximize the potential impact of the game you get to see without having to 'buy' a ticket, I think World Series Game 5 is your best bet. It's also the least likely game to actually happen, so that's the risk you take.

Can you propose a deal with one of the other 3 where you take 2 WS tickets and if it happens take that person, they take an NLDS game and commit to bringing you? This is assuming that by picking a game you get both tickets and that the other 3 don't sell theirs which by the looks of your post they are going to do.

If that option is not there, yes take a World Series game. You'll be kicking yourself if they make the World Series and you had a chance to go but didn't.

I don't understand how there are season ticket holders who don't want to go to playoff games. :-k

I live in Texas, so I will sell everything up to the World Series. I will make a trip back home for that.

That makes sense. I passed on season tickets when my number came up, because no one in my family who still lives in Chicago wanted to go in with me.

I would go NLCS. For one, the World Series tickets are the ones that are going to make you the most money, if they happen. Also, if they don't happen it would suck to pass on the first NLCS games at Wrigley in over a decade. Hedge your bets.

This is what I would do.

Wow, I don't get the NLCS angle at all. The guy with the first pick wound up taking NLCS game 3

So what'd you end up with?
