The Hawks are going to have to decide whether they want to keep Daley or Rundblad. They can't have both out there with Keith skating 30 minutes a night.

I'm willing to cut Baun some slack for the time being. He seems like the early candidate for team whipping boy as far as fans are concerned. He reminded me a little bit of Shaw during his first stint with the Hawks. Trying too hard to be a physical presence and seemingly never being where he should be on a consistent basis. I see him getting sent down in a couple weeks once Dano is deemed to have learned the system. The sooner that happens, the better the Hawks will be. They really need Tuevo on that 3rd line to make it any kind of a threat. That leaves Shaw to skate freely and do the things he does well.

Watching highlights from yesterday's game since I obviously didn't watch it...did they change something with the boards at the UC? They look different for some reason. Like cleaner looking.

Apparently they replaced them and they are much more lively according to Doc and Edzo.

I was in the car and had the Isles radio feed. The 3-on-3 sounded completely bananas.

That PBP guy is pretty good by the way.

Judging by all the empty seats I see, moving the Islanders to Brooklyn isn't a home run
islanders have no fanbase. City has a strong Ranger base. Rangers are currently good and exciting. Long term it is probably the right move, but it may take time. Islanders are a good young club.

They have a fan base but the Joey buttafuoco's of the world haven't had a good couple decades and aren't moving back to Brooklyn. They fled there generations ago.

That's awesome. Because of the Cubs I've barely been able to watch any of the 3 Hawks games. How excited should I be about Panarin?

I know we're all supposed to hate Kane and pretend he doesn't exist, but he's come out of the gate strong and remains extremely fun to watch. I enjoy his entire on-ice catalog. Sue me.

Very excited. He looks good.

As opposed to almost everyone else on the Hawks who've looked bad, disinterested, or confused.

didn't even know he was injured.

Out 4-6 weeks

I guess thats why they signed Cumiskey

Really going to test our blue line depth

Apparently the Hawks were already trying to trade for a defenseman and I'm guessing they will speed up that pursuit. Damn that's killer. The goal should be to not drop very far behind in the playoff race. I know its early but you don't want to dig a big hole that will be tough to get out of.

Just looking at Second City Hockey's tweets for more expert opinions on this, they seem to think we are screwed and hoping to tread water (.500) in his absence.

They should be primed for the ironic hippsters that populate Brooklyn.

1. Cumiskey is lousy. His signing is an emergency plan in case they can't get anyone else (admittedly a very real possibility)

2. What Blue line depth?

3. The caps might be able to get cap relief while Keith is out. That might allow them to make a deal right now. The problem, if I'm understanding how this works, is that they have to get back under the cap once Keith returns. That might be possible if they could put Bickell on LTIR with his vertigo issues. That might be asking for trouble though since they've already let him play with whatever issues that might be causing him.
