pretty sure there were people on here saying he'd eventually drop one of those.

I've never understood why some players default to trying to get their glove in basket mode. That always felt way more precarious because the ball has to drop below eye level.

I do not believe Richard would be a "world beater." I believe there's a better chance he could give us 5 or 6 solid innings than running Hanmel out there time after time.

thankfully nobody in the cubs organization feels the same

Bullpen up now

What!?

Obviously it was Fowler that should have caught that ball but Hammel has nothing. 3-2 to the pitcher and he ripped it to deep center. Almost every hitter has crushed a ball off Hammel so far.

Hammel's best start in the past month has been 2ER in 6.1 innings against the Braves. He's been bad for awhile.

Since July 3rd, Hammel has gone 6 innings a grand total of twice, and both times he was spotted to huge leads. Don't act like its a ridiculous opinion to think Richard could have more success than that. Both he and Cahill have at least earned a shot.

Now let's tie this mother up.

do you honestly think richard would be better? I mean he's been better lately but that's in part because his stuff plays up in a bullpen role where he can get more on his FB.

Hammel is clearly the more talented pitcher. When you don't have better options you go with the best option available (and one that has been dominant in a SP role at some point this year).

Castro!

I will indeed feel that way. Because Hammel has more talent than the two of them combined. You roll with him unless there is a better option. Richard and Cahill are not those options.
