Well I'm glad they got those insurance runs lol.

Even if they don't take tomorrow this has been an excellent series and a statement maker. Great gods damn team. Awesome job.

To be fair, Joe probably leaves Strop in if it's a 2 or 3 run game.

I think this is the highest point since 08

Everything after 9 over is the highest since 08, well until 36 over at least.

Emotionally, it is irrationally important to me that we win the wild card game. Even if we get swept by the Cardinals in the NLDS or whatever.

We've got a 9-game, 12-year playoff losing streak and I would really like to see that go away.

the parallels to 04 are too much...between a cardinals team to come out of nowhere for 100 wins to an easy down the stretch schedule for a wild card, to fantasizing about knocking them out in the playoffs

but it won't turn out that way this time

We broke that combo when instead of doing something insanely exciting during the trade deadline we went the infuriatingly disappointing route.

That's not irrational at all. We all want that.

it's irrational in that it doesn't really say a lot about how good we are whether we lose that game or not, especially vs. getting in and swept by the cardinals like he suggested

Remember when people didn't want to "go for it" at the trade deadline because the Cubs wouldn't be able to catch the Giants?

I was kind of guilty of that. But man we've outplayed them this series. It's almost like....almost like we're better than them or something.

Remember when we weren't capable of putting together hot streaks like the Giants did?

I was perfectly happy with how the Cubs approached the trade deadline considering what was being asked for and what was on offer

ugh
