You guys need to [expletive] relax. You don't look at this stretch of "easy" schedule and expect them to win every game. You look at it 3-4 weeks in and expect a pretty good record.

Anyway, I missed the second half of this game. Had dinner plans. How'd everyone feel about Schwarber overall. I saw the one bad throw.

At least for me, it's not about being relaxed.

We are closing in on August. What they are is what they are. I'm still highly optimistic about the future of this franchise and love the things that have taken shape for the long-term health of the organization. I believe Bryant, Rizzo, Soler, Schwarber and Russell are going to make one hell of a batting order.

But not this year. They just can't score runs. I appreciate those who are optimistic and believe things have to turn around. I'm just not at that point anymore, and I so very much hope I'm wrong.

It does not matter who we play. It does not. If you are only going to score two or fewer runs per game, you can't enjoy any sort of sustained stretch of success. And I have stopped believing that the offense is going to heat up at this point.

How can you possibly think this with a lineup full of 22 and 23 year olds as the key players?

They are what they are for this season. For as much as someone might hope to argue that they are suddenly going to start going off, I can point to the old cliche that they might also be burned out by the time late September has come.

Again, this is not any sort of thought on what I think about their long-term future. But sorry, I'm not buying that this team's offense is going to do much changing in the next 60 days.

what the hell does any of that even mean?

"just not at that point anymore?"

And i'm going to go ahead and state confidently that we will not score 2 or fewer runs per game the rest of the season. Comments like that are EXACTLY what i'm talking about and referring to as needing to relax. WTF?

Yeah whoops I stand corrected

Sorry David for freaking out and stating they were only going to score two or fewer runs each game for the rest of the season. I apologize if taken so literally. I was just attempting to illustrate that the offense has not shown to be very good and that I don't see it suddenly not sucking for long stretches of time.

Again, would like to point out I do believe they will score more than two runs in a game again this season.

i just realized lester is starting to day and that probably means no schwarber (assuming ross is good which i haven't really heard either way but i think the 7 days have passed) and that bums me out.

I think you're going to be disappointed when he doesn't start tomorrow, either.

why do you say that?

are they facing a lefty tomorrow (i still think he should start even if they aren't)?

All indications yesterday was that he would catch two or three days at most a week and never Lester or Arrieta.

Didn't Arrieta specifically say he liked throwing to Schwarber in spring? I don't really understand that one

Do you know the last time a team averaged 3 runs per game?

Neither do I, because I got back to 1978 and still haven't found one.

Sweet. So we might make history!

Again, the point is just I think our offensive problems will continue for the most part the rest of the season. I'm sure they will have a stretch of nice games but I don't think it will be close to sustained.
