Man, Oscar De La Cruz has been pretty darn great so far. How excited should I be about this kid?

Boy, Zagunis has gone cold as ice.

I hyped him and picked him up on my dynasty squad about two weeks ago. My bad. Hopefully Steele and Cease don't suffer similar fates.

Zac Rosscup got the start for the AZL Cubs and went 1 scoreless and hitless inning with 2 strikeouts.

I'll put Eugene stuff here I guess. This is still a SS league, only four games, I'm an amateur at best with some delusions...so everything with a grain of salt, or at least extreme caution:

- de la Cruz was easily the most impressive of the SPs I saw in the 4 games (Kellogg, Sands, Steele, de la Cruz). 90-93 the whole time, 75-77 with a curveball including one two plane one at 77 that made heads turn. Could be a Hammel type starter, I saw some room to gain velocity and maybe be something like the Yankees' Ivan Nova stuff wise. Heard he's a personable guy, like some of his teammates still learning the language.

- Frandy de la Rosa was probably my favorite player of the week. I didn't see Jimenez. de la Rosa showed defense, some speed, more physicality and strength than I expected, a good plate approach, he seemed to have an unusual focus relative to his peers - if that can be said without sounding like an [expletive]. Donnie Dewees was next most impressive for most of the same reasons - focused, good approach, more physical than expected, good defense, seemed like a leader already when he spoke to Kevonte Mitchell after a miscommunication between them.

- Tyler Alamo is the stateman in the bunch. Seemed to get along with everyone and drew the loudest applause. He's one of the best athletes on the team (though not the MIF or CF type), lean and fluid with a frame that seemed projectable. He and Matt Rose look similar in build, but you can tell the difference just in how they move. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if he took GBs at 3B at some point, would prefer it whether he plays C or not in the long run. He probably has the arm to catch, it seemed, and hopefully can add on some necessary bulk. He made easy contact at the plate, impressive for a 6'3/6'4" catcher, but there was no power. Took a bad swing at a pitch he might have hit, chuckled to himself, and singled on the next pitch. Took an inning at 1B and laughed it up with the bench while handling plays easily. Maybe I went in looking for a positive impression, though Alamo was a system sleeper even before going in.

- Kevonte Mitchell is earnest. He was hit and miss. He flashed speed and defensive tools, made hard contact on a double to the gap, drew a couple walks...I happened to wander past the stadium at around 1 PM one day and saw him heading in. Seemed a little hard on himself, and one comment was that he's just young. I think he could be a Reed Johnson type in time.

- Steele physically reminded me of Jake Lindgren of the Yankees. Hit 93 early, settled into 89-91. Used a low-mid 70s curve for his strikeouts, liked to pitch up with his fastball and had a little cutting action at times. Solid build but not projectable and maybe shorter than his listed height. I heard good things about his work ethic, and he's another guy who just seemed to be more intense than others.

- Underwood's changeup came up as the best offspeed in the system. Black's slider and Edwards' curve got love later.

- Not a Sands fan and caught a bad outing. No comment. He was 88-89, a few 91s.

- Happ tracked a tough ball well in CF once, but I think he's a 2B through and through in the majors.

- Rays and Marlins had scouts there the whole home stand, at least three-four others who didn't wear a logos somewhere, and the Cubs had a couple of guys there.

I'm sure there's more. I took a handful of decent videos of de la Rosa, de la Cruz, got one of Kellogg burying a breaking ball for a K (meh angle THO, the only one not behind home plate)...Kellogg was the best of the three SP lefties I saw, wish I got to see Paulino and Twomey since I think they have some potential as well...Got good ones for Mitchell, de la Rosa and Alamo probably...maybe Matt Rose....Didn't get Steele by choice, probably regret that. Maybe I got one and forgot, haven't looked.

Good time, very nice way to kill 2-3 hours between drinks and attempts at socialization. I got to talk my head off about baseball with people who at least seemed receptive, maybe even interested. Alex Santana threw a 93 MPH sinker that was pretty nasty, and probably showed the best velocity with the most 94s (only 94s?). I felt like that sinker he threw should at least get a mention. That specific pitch, de la Cruz's best curveball, and Alamo's miss/smile/single were three plays that just stuck around in my head.

Wow. Thanks!
