This is further proof of a supernatural jinx on the cubs. This [expletive] doesnt happen to anyone else.

Games like this happen during the course of the season. It sucks. Every team goes through it. But so far this year, we've had more reason to celebrate than to vent.

Look what happened today. One of our better pitchers got hurt. We threw two scrappy pitchers at the Cardinals and came within one strike of winning. Today could have ended in a blowout and we would be much less frustrated than we are right now.

How today ended really, really sucked. But we're still in a good spot right now.

I said going into this that I'd be pleased with a split.

Sucks to lose this one, but they [expletive] battled this whole series (and this game especially, with Hammel leaving after 1 IP). The Cubs are a good team that appear poised to contend for a playoff spot. I'm cool with that.

ARCubsFan, you are such a jackass - I could say the sky is blue and you'd find a way to disagree because that's the kinda douche you are. Our bullpen doesn't have a shutdown guy - that was point - accept it or go eat dog [expletive].

the correct answer is that you are both terrible posters.

Certainly a frustrating game. This team has shown resiliency in not letting these types of losses carry over to the following games. I have confidence that will once again be the case. It's a damn long season and this is the most competitive team in some time. They're still 3 games up in the WC and have a favorable second half schedule. This loss stings, but it's far from the end of the world. There's still a ton of baseball left this year. If you would have told me the Cubs would be 8 games over .500 on 7/8 before the season I would have taken it.

Strop should only be a set up guy..He can't do these high leverage situations...Rondon should be back closing for now

I agree, except we are going to have to endure some unfortunate Motte blown saves before that happens.

Hahahahahaha okay. Keep overreacting to one inning and claiming that the bullpen suddenly sucks because of it.

Cubs can make it up to us by sweeping the White Sox.

This type of rational thinking might be acceptable an hour or so after the game, but we're fresh off a heartbreaking loss to the St. Hitler Hitlers. So [expletive] everything and everything sucks and we're the worst team ever.

I have been saying this for a month now... Everyone loves to follow stats and say "the Cubs bullpen is good" sure..but they struggle really bad in clutch situations and have no one to turn to with consistency.

Will be hard with the pitchers they are going up against, but you never know. I would be tickled with 2 of 3, personally. Get back to 9 games over and use these losses as motivation going into the second half.

just because you've been saying it for a long time doesn't make it any less stupid.

The Cubs bullpen has been among the best in baseball for a month now.
