Yea I really don't know man. I know he's been struggling with his health but Im unsure as to the exact reason. Coomer would be a great ambassador type for the Cubs, but he is abyssmal on commentary. I feel bad every time I write that because he's such a nice guy, but there really needs to be a completely new booth like they did with Len and Brenly if Hughes retires.

 

edit: on a side note, JD is really winning me over this season. I wasn't a big fan last year, but that's changing. He's hilarious.

I'm guessing Pat requested it. I think he likes having the inning off of play by play. He used to take the whole thing off and Corey Provus or whoever would do PBP. At least it keeps Pat in the booth, but yeah that call was rough.
