If only the Cubs had someone like that guy.

Now that's a good one. I'd love to know the last time any Cub outperformed any peripheral stat to that degree for any significant length of time.

Actually, it might have been Carlos Villanueva last year

If the two of you were joking this would still be a terrible bit. Yeah, guys like Jason Hammel and Chris Coghlan and Miguel Montero and Dexter Fowler aren't all significantly outperforming their projections or anything.

The difference is that Theo Epstein chose those guys, identified them using his skills, while the Cardinals just use pixie dust. It's [expletive]. Guys like Hammel, Montero, and Coghlan just needed some TLC, we know that Theo fixed those guys.

No, the Cardinals simply have the team and system we want the Cubs to have. The Cubs definitely seem to be headed well in the right direction, but what we want is to be the Cardinals, but with more money. It's not all luck; it's that they have the drafting, scouting, coaching, FA signing, player development system and so on that we're hoping/expecting from the Cubs. It's like some people here just have this weird block where they think it's impossible that they could be better at these things. All of those guys turned out to be decent signings. Turns out the needed to do better than that. They've largely constructed a very young, very aggressive team that's going to have a lot of growing pains. Their only significant signing in terms of bringing an everyday patient hitter as a FA was Fowler, and his numbers in that realm are the worst of his career. It seems like they were hedging their bets on having a slugging-heavy team that was just going to pound other teams into submission and they're just not there yet. You construct a team that relatively one-dimensional AND you're relying on a bunch of young players to break out and it's going to take a bit of time to be the world-beaters they're hoping to have.

Can't wait to sweep you guys tomorrow.

Eat a bag of dicks

Haha. Whatever you say little brother.

Haha like anyone from that [expletive] bag city has the right to call a Chicagoan little brother. I'd much rather root for my sad sack franchise then cheer amongst you yokels. Plus I guess I'd kind of get sick of mourning one of my active players dying every couple of months.

Can't wait for another one of your players to get drunk and kill himself driving after the game.

Maybe if enough of them die, the Cubs will win.

My god. Is this what being a fan of a pathetic loser does to you? What's sadder is that I haven't seen anybody that roots for that lame team call you out….especially since it appears to be much more likely Bryant kills himself driving to the game. Why he's partying and drinking the way he is right now following yet another beat down from your daddies, I don't know.
