Any interest?

The 33-year-old Aardsma has pitched quite well for L.A.’s Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City, working to an excellent 2.41 ERA with 11.1 K/9, 3.4 BB/9 and 15 saves in 18 2/3 innings. Aardsma recently explained to The Oklahoman’s Jacob Unruh that his offseason work in a strengthening program called Top Velocity helped him add a couple of ticks back to his fastball, which is now regularly sitting in the 91-93 mph range.

it was more than 10 years ago we traded Latroy Hawkins for Aardsma and Jerome Williams

kind of amazing all three are still in the game

Even though I knew about all of them individually, it blows my mind when it's put like that.

Sure I'd have interest, but it feels like he's looking for a major league gig ... and he's not really a guy you feel comfortable giving a late inning job to right now, so it's hard to see them opening up a spot in middle relief for Aardsma. I imagine there's going to be a team that's going to offer him a major league gig. Look, if the Cubs opted to say, cut Jason Motte and give Aardsma a job, I'd be okay with that, but I don't see that happening.

Motte's been quietly good for several weeks now. Besides, now that the poison's out of the well, pen hasn't been the problem lately. Sure, if we could get someone like Papelbon or O'Day, great. But Aardsma would probably be a lateral move at best over even Jackson.

his last month stats are grotesque, but if you look at just the past two weeks i guess he's had about as dominant a 4+ innings as you can have with 3.86 K/9

if he can keep up that 0 HR/9 and .071 BABIP up long-term, he'll probably even be useful!
