the Mariners have officially cut ties with veteran catcher John Baker, releasing him from the roster Wednesday evening at Triple-A Tacoma.

Baker, 34, was batting just .161/.185/.194 over 65 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level.

I vividly remember reading about this play, but until now, I had yet to feast my eyes upon it.

Him pitching a scoreless inning in that game was awesome also. I also remember him saying something the next day that he would be ready to pitch again the next day if Renteria asked him to and that he hadn't reached his innings limit yet.

Why did Strop just leave him in ruins like that?
