We continue to have the most awkward roster.

We're back to an 8-man bullpen with a 4-man bench that includes two catchers. Because we don't want to admit that we need to trade or dump Castillo and Jackson.

Interested to see if German can make the most of the opportunity. Like Rosscup, the more strikes he throws, the better things are gonna be.

i guess we are waiting for wada to be back before cutting jaxon/paying his entire contract and trading him for a 27 year old a ball reliever, but i'm pretty disappointed in the lack of an inventive solution to this issue. just stashing him on the 25-man and effectively lighting a roster spot on fire is not a good way to handle this at all.

So you're advocating dumping Castillo then? Because its obvious he'd be gone if anyone had given us what we wanted.

If we must set up a situation where there is no room at all between "dump" and "take even one penny less than we want," then yes I'd prefer dumping him.

Until it becomes a problem that's costing us games, I'm fine with it. Maddon seems to be doing all right navigating things. Jackson likely is gone when Wada comes back. Hopefully Schlitter goes down and Russell comes up. Then swap Herrera out with Szczur and that's fairly ideal in my mind for May.

I'm really not getting what's going on with Jackson. He hasn't pitched since 4/10. Either he's dealing with an injury, in which case he should be DL'd, or Maddon doesn't trust him as anything but mop up duty, in which case we're better off choking down whatever money he's owed and call up someone who might play once in a while.

I'd kind of prefer Olt coming back in place of Herrera rather than Szczur.

jaxon is insurance for a rotation injury until wada is back

Jaxon's in the Villanueva role, right? it's just that we haven't really been in any crooked scoring games yet to really need a long-man

Right.

Apparently Germen got the call because Parker went on the DL today. That guy is just snakebitten.

The problem is keeping a personal catcher on the roster that's now led Lester to a 7 ERA in 3 starts

Bingo. The Ross thing is such [expletive]. Not even Theo can avoid an unnecessary meatball move here and there.

It wouldn't be as big a deal if we didn't already have a noodle bat on the bench in Hererra/Mendy. And in 4 of every 5 games, we have Ross plus one of those 2 comprising 1/2 of our bench; and Denorfia doesn't exactly strike fear into the hearts of pitchers either.
