In todays Jesse Rogers Report

"I look at it as 'Why not me?'" Bryant said Friday morning. "I think I'm the type of guy that can go out there and do it. I've made it a point of mine to come out here and show them that I can."

Will the cubs dropping him down to AAA affect him mentally / emotionally at all!?!?

Cant argue with the stats and numbers he puts up, we know he will rack up the K's but its not a big deal.

As a new poster I commend you for contributing to the forum and trying to start up conversations, but you can probably confine all these new topics to many of the other ongoing topics where we sort of bunch these things together (i.e. Random Cubs Musings or the Kris Bryant Anticipation Thread [which I can only assume will transform into the Kris Bryant Appreciation Thread]), cause you've started three separate topics that are Kris Bryant related in the last few days. They can all probably be ideas you can throw into one of the catch all threads instead.

As for your question: no, it will not affect him. He's shown every ability to be professional and overcome any sort of hype or media attention he's gotten so far to go out there and play the game to the best of his ability and not let the white noise distract him from his performance. He's a champ.

I do kind of hope that as we get better this year and get more traffic, we can move away from those mega threads.

This obviously isn't the type of topic, though, since there's already several threads where it's being discussed.

Yeah, I don't like mega threads.

Totally agree about the mega threads being an issue. I think an outsider would look at the board at first glance and assume it's nearly dead due to the lack of unique threads. I feel that we have an opportunity to grow the site a ton as the Cubs continue to get better, so ya, more unique threads like this one please.

The one thread rule has always been dumb, but let's not kid ourselves that this place isn't nearly dead.

There's a line to walk, but the forum is pretty far from that line IMO.

I'm all for more threads being started myself, although starting 3 different threads in the same week with a very similar topic/theme is probably going too far in the other direction.

Dammit, it's the week before Opening Day; it's time for some stupid excitement.

Eh... it still has solid daily activity even in the offseason. I've seen much worse message boards. Obviously though it's way down from what it was 7 or 8 years ago.

PSD Cubs board is by far the most active PSD forum IIRC, and I don't find it to be much more active than NSBB.

Of course Bryant should be disappointed about not making the team out of spring training. If anyone deserves it, he does. And he should probably be upset that this decision should cost him several million dollars in earnings at some point.

But, the hundreds of millions he will end up making hitting home runs and wearing a Chicago Cubs uniform for the next 12-15 years (15 because of the DH rule expanding to the NL) will probably soothe those old wounds.

And I'm pretty sure he could start opening day if Boras were to work with the Cubs on a team friendly long term deal that took him beyond his free agency years. Hey Boras, the ball is in your court!

It's in our best interest to give Olt his second shot here, too, since it's really only a couple handful of games, he's got pedigree, we've invested resources into him and it's not like he's butchering it. Is he a better option than KB? Of course [expletive] not, but thinking optimistically, a nice start for him before moving in to and handling a backup/utility role obviously improves his trade value. If KB starts on opening day and Olt starts well in AAA, well, whoopdeedoo ya know.

Everybody understands its the right business move, but it's still a shifty business practice and sets up an adversarial relationship with the player at the outset. The move says they don't care about the player, he's a chess piece. I can't help but think it's going to make negotiations tougher down the road. Who knows though, maybe they were always going to he tough.

There's no way Mike Trout would ever sign a long term contract with the Angels after they renewed his contract for $20K over the minimum following his ROY and runner up MVP season in 2012.

There's a non-zero chance that he leaves Chicago in 7 years because of this, but if they offer him a massive extension in a few years, he'll probably take it.

Seven years ago, Bryant was learning how to drive. By the time he's up for FA this will be a distant memory

Right. It's the week before opening day, it's time for stupid excitement, and the mods didn't combine a bunch of similar threads.....and yet this thread has turned into an argument against nobody about mega-threads. Weird.

FWIW, I really hate the mega/condensed thread thing. It's over-moderation. Just leave threads alone.

if there's one problem we've had lately, it's overmoderation (can one really be overly moderate?).

brb, gonna spin my wheel-o-pain and see who gets banned so i can meet my quota this month

it's an argument against all of ourselves to stop making/posting in mega threads
