There's room for both Castro and Russell in the same lineup.

Exactly, just as easily move one of Castro or Russell to 2B, let Bryant be a 50 win player at 3B lol.

maybe how would you work it tho?

i think we should go for another heavy pitcher

CC is skinny now and David Wells hasn't pitched for years. Bartolo Colon isn't worth Castro and Castillo.

How about we wait until we see what we have in Javier Baez? Because right now he's a giant question mark that may not be a Major League player which would open a spot for both Castro and Russell up the middle. And he doesn't *need* to be on the ML roster to start the year. Having him spend some time at AAA won't hurt him.

Oh and trading Starlin is dumb.

Not only should we wait to see what we have in Baez, but it might be a good idea to make sure Russell is as good as advertised in the ML. He certainly looks like a future ML star, but other top prospects have failed at the ML level.

I still almost can't believe we got Addison Russell. Like...[expletive].

I know...he wasn't only rated the the A's best prospect- but one of the best prospects in all of baseball (like what...top 5 at the time?). I just don't see the Cubs trading him like some have suggested.

Castro for Hamels

Again, no way in hell. I'm not against trading Castro for the right return, but that's almost certainly not the right return. Way too much risk involved with a pitcher that age, who has reportedly dealt with arm trouble. It just gets even worse when you consider how amazing Castro's deal is.

I see your point, but I have very little confidence in K-ez. Seriously though Russell, looks different than a normal prospect, similar to Bryant, he should just learn on the job in the bigs, seems to have a good eye..

You don't believe in Baez, but then you want to trade Castro? Hmm.

Yeah i honestly really like La Stella, his on base skills are pretty good.I'd rather the team have another top line pitcher than a few more homers from infield position..

So, lots of surplus value for very little surplus value and a hell of a lot more risk. Fantastic.

Surplus value for second Jon Lester in rotation. Yeah. Btw, are you implying we trade surplus value for equal surplus value? Thats so [expletive] stupid.

Dont know about arm trouble. I believe the arm trouble rumors were debunked or at least mostly debunked.

Again, this guy is almost exactly the same caliber as Lester with a more team friendly deal that doesnt extend into his elderly years.

Castro's a nice player, but the Cubs have more than enough capable infielders and other players that project higher than he is at right now.

Lester, Hamels, Arrieta, Hendricks is a hell of a front four. Thats like 90's Braves right there. You wouldnt trade redundancy in order to field that rotation for the next 4 years?

Doing it on the field is different than projections.

Either way, don't be shocked if Castro is not a cub by the trading deadline.
