So, work is taking me to Florida this week. Naples, which although not terribly close to Tampa is close enough to maybe get over there for Game 1. I'll pack my sweater just in case.

That's what I'm doing in case of game 7. I might not be able to afford to get in but I would definitely be hanging around the arena ready to celebrate with Hawks fans if they won.

I'll do the right thing and stay away during the games. I think Hawks in 6 or 7, but more than anything I'm just glad we're going to be good for a lonnng time. In fact, I'd make the claim that the Lightning's long-term prospects for success are even higher than the Cubs right now. I literally have no worries about their ability to contend for Cups for the next 5+ years, especially if Stamkos re-signs, which I'm pretty sure he will.

Experience is going to be the deciding factor in this one, unfortunately for the Lightning. Because of that, part of me was rooting for the Ducks, but realized that home-ice was a nice consolation with the Blackhawks winning. Then I remembered home-ice doesn't matter. Whoops.

Garth Brooks had to cancel his concerts this weekend in Tampa because they had the arena double booked.

I heard this mentioned as a criticism a few days ago. Is that really a big deal?

Do venues booking concerts months or even a year in advance consider whether the team in that area might be in a playoff run at that time and might be scheduled on that particular day?

As a criticism of who?

I'm sure venues do some level of contingency planning but for hockey and its 9 month postseason there's no perfect solution. Canceling a Garth Brooks concert(in Florida no less) is a pretty big deal though.

The venue, I suppose. Just saw them being laughed at somewhere on the internet or TV or something.

Tampa will have to go thru salary cap hell after they resign Stamkos, like the Hawks did and will with the Kane/Toews contracts. Also after Stamkos resigns the Toews and Kane deals will look like bargains compared to what he signs for. I do forsee Tampa being a force for many years to come.

As for this series, I honestly think any of the three teams the Hawks faced in the playoffs this year(Nashville,Minnesota, Anaheim) would beat Tampa in a series. The west is far and away a better conference. I think it will be Hawks in 6.

Lightning playoff run saves locals from [expletive] music

Been listening to NHL Radio this morning, they keep playing Lightning radio highlights. Dave Mishkin is an abomination. Whatever he is doing, it's not broadcasting. It's not charming. It's not endearing. It's just ear-splitting, ridiculous yelling.

This offense would have destroyed Dubnyk. Of course to be fair, after making Price and Lundqvist look average I'd probably say that about a lot of goalies right now.

Yea, beating Price is impressive. They re the best team in the east, but nobody in the east has the experience like the West teams do. If TB can beat the Hawks they will be the new powerhouse, but never bet against Capt Serious. :)

@DownGoesBrown: Is it me, or does just about everyone seem to be a.) predicting a very close series; and b.) picking the same team to win?

Feels this way for sure.

You may not be able to wear a Hawks sweater at the game depending on where you sit. Seems like the 'ning are one upping Nasville's idiotic "Kepp the red out" by not only not sell tickets but threatening to move people to different seats if they are wearing visitor's gear.

Tampa's defense, at times left enormous gaping holes for the Rangers to exploit. Once they tightened up the d, they were able to force the Rangers wide and limit their scoring chances. The Rangers weren't great at scoring goals in these playoffs but they were still able to get them in bunches in game 6. Bishop is a big goalie which means that the Hawks will have to get him moving laterally.

The reason why a lot of people are picking the Hawks in 6 or 7 comes down to 3 things:

1 The Hawks use the first couple games to see what the other team is going to do. They wind up splitting these games

2 The Hawks experience in the playoffs trumps their lack of regular season success against Tampa

3 The media assumes that Crawford will have at least one bad game per series but then the Hawks talent wins out.

What doesn't get talked about much is Q's ability to game plan and out coach his opponent as the series goes on.

It's just the "Chase Club" and "Lexus Lounge" seating though. Pretty sure most of the stadium you're ok.

What makes me nervous about this series is that Tampa is the best team to come out of the East in a long time. They have the speed to force mistakes and they have a goalie that can cause the Hawks trouble. The Hawks will have to play great to win the series.

That's what they said when we played Boston, but replace speed with "Chara".

My mostly uninformed takeaway from scouring the internet is that the Lightning are very good and could absolutely win the series but the Hawks should still be favorites.

I'm stupidly confident in this series. Hawks in 5. Only because I think it's too arrogant to say Hawks in 4.

TB will score, but the Hawks will score more.

SCF tickets go on sale at noon tomorrow on ticketmaster. Luckily I can get in on the presale at 9am. Unlucky for me, my work blocks ticketmaster so I will have to use my phone.

Right. Whatever those sections are, they sound like more expensive than I'll be willing to pay.

Is it a STH presale or just a code that you use?

If the later, I'd love to get my hands on that code :)
