Week 3: Bears (1-1) @ Jets (1-1) MNF 7:30 PM ESPN

Posted

Let's get this train rolling.

Jets won over a close game at home over a crappy Oakland team, then went into Lambeau, looked great in getting a 21-3 lead then blew it and lost because Marty Mornhinweg had the second biggest blunder of his career. So who knows what to expect out of this Jets team.

Since we're all riding the optimism train now, I'll go with a Bears W

30-21 Bears

The freaking jeats on Monday night. If this was Sunday there is no question that I would be attending. As it stands, odds are less than 50% right now. I hate primetime football but the Bears have seemingly become really good at it.

This was the game I had circled on the schedule as a game all the fans think the Bears will win but they won't.

Teams generally do terrible on the 2nd half of back-to-back prime time games.

They got that out of the way against Buffalo.

Do you have any proof of that? I am trying to remember the Bears previous back to back night time games. These are the ones I can think off of the top of my head

2012: Bears lose at home against Houston on SNF, Bears lose in San Francisco on MNF

2011: Bears lose in Detroit on MNF, Bears win at home against Minnesota on SNF

2010: Bears win at home against Green Bay on MNF, Bears lose in New York (Giants) on SNF

2009: Bears lose in San Francisco on TNF, Bears lose at home against Philadelphia on SNF

2008: Bears win at home against New Orleans on TNF, Bears win at home against GB on MNF

Marty Mornhinweg had the second biggest blunder of his career.

I was laughing like hell when that happened. But did the refs blow that call? The play-by-play said he wasn't actually calling timeout himself, but was running at the HC to call the timeout, and also that only the HC can do that from the sidelines.

If so then it really isn't on Marty. It was definitely an OMG moment.

I saw the Jets -1 this morning and now same site has pick-em.

Probably the sheer volume of Bears injuries, which I can't really argue with. Week 3 and our roster is Swiss cheese.

I wonder if Washington will bring back Grossman.

I agree, that could be the deciding factor in the Bears-Jets game.

Dammit...I'm getting these week 3 threads confused. Grossman is a former Bear, so...yeah...related!

First off, how the hell did you think of those off the top of your head?

Second, Thursday night has not traditionally been considered "Prime time" so 2 of those don't count.

Third, I was sort of speaking from a gambling standpoint but this is a PK game so it can count I guess. Teams playing back-to-back SNF/MNF are 2-18 ATS last 20 situations. We will get to see the Colts in that situation tonight. However, this trend would seem to over ride that one for them tonight: Andrew Luck is 10-0 SU/ATS in his career after a loss.

Not to pile on, but I'm going to anyway :).

Come on pitch, you know better than this.
