38-13 Bears

Bills get a TD early and take a 7-0 lead, Bears struggle for first couple of offensive series, then Cutler hits for a big strike to Marshall with some YAC chops, and the Bears roll. Forte gets 3 scores, Marshall gets 8-9 catches and 150 yards, Jeffery goes for 7 for around 100 and a TD.

@AdamHoge: So Cornelius Washington and David Bass both made the team but Austen Lane did not. That’s surprising. #Bears

Undrafted free agent LB Christian Jones made the team.

Found it weird that both Frey and Hayden were cut. A bit thin at DB?

5 CBs. Tillman, Jennings, Fuller are the top 3. That's a pretty good group if Tillman is healthy. McManis outplayed Hayden in camp/preseason. Hurst is the 5th. I'd rather keep the younger/cheaper player as the 5th CB and special teamer than the 30+ year old Hayden.

As for Lane, similar situation. Sucks to have to cut him, but he was clearly the 5th DE after Allen, Houston, Young, and Trevor Scott who had a great camp/preseason. Bass and Washington are younger, Washington is a potential Idonije-like stud on special teams and has shown a bit of it in the preseason.

I think there are still a couple moves to be made. The Bears are said to be looking for a S and a return man. Spurlock is gone if they get a younger returner. May see someone like Bass traded for a depth S. If they pick up someone on waivers (Duke Ihenacho waived and started most of year for Broncos last year) then I think you may see them try to sneak either Sinorice Perry or Fales on the practice squad. Also if Marquess Wilson is put on IR-designated for return, then that opens up an extra spot. I hope to see Jerry Franklin make it back somehow. Also, Britton could be a guy re-signed after Week 1. May have been cut with that understanding, as his salary was only guaranteed if he made the team out of camp.

How about signing a veteran who was cut?

A returner....

What a surprise that I want a returner...just one professional returner...

McMannis has been great in camp and preseason games and they obviously have Fuller. Hurst is the #5 CB. That's normal depth.

Man I just can't see the Bears beating the 49ers at all. I just can't. The last time we played them, they completely embarrassed us on national TV. I know they've looked pretty mortal in the preseason, but I just see them Harbaugh completely outcoaching Turner, and having Kaepernick toy with us as he scrambles for first down after first down. I see their defense getting pressure on Cutler enough to make him go into his infamous shell. Of course I'm a negative [expletive] so its no surprise that I can only visualize us losing.

I hope I'm wrong!!

We'll see. The 49ers won't have Bowman and Smith. Might not have Boone either if he's still holding out.

And Ray McDonald just beat up a pregnant woman. It all falls down.

That should skip the 6 game ban and go straight to lifetime. That's disgusting

McManis is pretty good on special teams, and they certainly need all the help they can get there. I thought Hurst played the best out of the group of Frey, Wilson and Louie-Jean. Probably wouldn't have minded Frey and Hurst making the team, but again, special teams needs some veteran leadership.

Was hoping to see Chris Williams make the team. Not a fan of Spurlock by any means. Probably would have kept Austin Lane over Bass, also.

Other than that, no real surprises other than Britton not making the team. I did like Miller over Mulligan as the 3rd TE, but Miller apparently got placed on IR.

I like the receiver crew a lot.

@PFF: Safety Chris Clemons was our 19th highest graded player at the positon in 2013, and 16th this preseason. Can help a Safety needy team.

This screams Bears signing.

I wanted him signed over Mundy in March or whenever. Raises some flags that he has been cut so many times and passed over consistently. Had a good 2012, but could only get a late in the offseason 1-year deal from the team that had him in the first place. Then didn't get signed for a while this offseason and cut. I think he can play but 32 GMs thinking little of him leaves me weary.

At the bottom of the roster, rather have younger guys over Lane, Britton, etc. Surprised Spurlock over Williams, but Williams was hurt and missed key time.

Spurlock can definitely break one, as of 2012 anyway. Same age as Hester...so basically a cheaper, suckier version.

Would have taken my chances with Williams as well.

@AdamHoge: P squad: WR Bellamy, C Boggs, DT Dunn, CB Frey, OL Groy, LB Lattimore, CB Louis-Jean , CB Terrance Mitchell, DT Roy Philon, WR Rashard Moss.

No Lynch.

There's the DB depth. How many guys on practice squads around the league have as many starts as Frey?

A bit surprised Frey didn't land somewhere, actually.

I assume he means Dale Moss.

All of the Bears draft picks (plus undrafted rookie Christian Jones) made the team.

Second straight year that's happened. Heck, all the guys drafted in 2013 made this year's team too.
