Mike Olt sent to Triple-A, Cubs announce just now. Wada up. Vitters may be outright released.

With the trade deadline about a week away, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to stash him in a trade package. As ugly of a year as it's been for him, he's only 24 and things were real looking up last year, at least when he wasn't injured. If they need to dump a body to make room, Anderson, Kalish, and Valaika should all be ahead of him.

We're down to five infielders (four, technically, Bonifacio is listed as an OF) on the active roster. Hmm....

[expletive] infielders. [expletive] pitchers. When the lineup card reads Mendy, Castro, Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Soler, Russell, Schwarber, Almora, do you really think that the other team will even get a chance to bat?

Slightly off topic, but I noticed yesterday after some retweets that I wasn't following Jesse Rogers. Then I followed him for a few hours, and realized exactly why I'd quit following him before. Man that guy irritates me.

I watched the Iowa Cubs play Round Rock on Saturday. Vitters and Manny looked terrible. Brett Jackson actually had a good day I was surprised to see that his numbers were so bad.

Brett's got a .909 OPS in July, amazingly

Theo must be fielding a ton of calls from the Frontier League.

So even if just for today, who is backing up Rizzo at 1B?

I would guess either Valbuena(with Alcantara/Bonifacio handling 2B/3B) or Castillo.

Coghlan played a lot of 1B in the spring as well.

Yeah, I have to imagine Coghlan is the backup 1B.
