95 also featured jim bullinger, my first favorite cub, even before sosa.

i used to sponsor bullinger's b-r page.

I worked at Medinah country club as a high schooler when Jim Bullinger was golfing. I waited outside the bathroom and asked him to sign my pocket schedule.

"Sure, kid... why is this laminated?"

buechele was awesome. buechelle had awesome hair, unlike hojo.

look at that mullet. that doesn't inspire fear and respect to you?

That signing stung twice: His 3 homer game against the Cubs as a Brave and the bitter realization that they signed him solely because of that game.

95 was the year that sucked me in. the wild card chase. i had just started watching sports seriously when jordan came back.

something about watching inside stuff after some saved by the bell and they reported jordan's "i'm back" fax that made me really want to jump on the bandwagon.

anyway, yeah, 95 cubs. for whatever reason loved that mediocre as hell team. brian mcrae, luis gonzalez, scott servais... howard johnson lol. castillo near no-no where they kept showing his hot wife.

trying to decide who my first favorite was...for a while i'd say grace because i was just copying my older brother. in actuality i think it wound up being either mcrae or shawon.

Time for Jaxon's blow up inning?

That's an affirmative.

I was only 12 in 1995, I don't remember hating any Cubs, they were still all superheroes to me

Brant Brown in 1998 taught me hate

I would have been 12 in 95, I have no recollection of anyone named kmak :(

on that team though - I REALLY disliked howard johnson. good god. and that pitching staff - foster castillo and navarro

what an awful team

wasnt zeile on the 95 cubs too? so bad

wtf castillo and navarro were pretty good that year and the team was not awful

actually navarro was very good

zeile was doing pretty well for the cardinals when we got him to fill 3b. i remember thinking it might put us over the top. then he was like the worst hitter ever.

i really liked him so i just felt bad for him when that happen and it was cool that it didn't end up mattering

hell, had we won the wild card outright we wouldn't have had the one game playoff which was my favorite thing til 2003
