I like Jeff Garlin. He is like Jim Belushi, but with some actual talent and sports knowledge.

Odd way of putting that. It's like saying that Kris Bryant is like Josh Vitters except he is good at baseball.

How was Jim Belushi ever a thing as long as he was? According to Jim and everything else he has ever done are just wretched. It can't just be his last name.

most people are stupid

that said, it reminds me of something else. i don't know anybody that likes joe buck. not a single person. yet fox employs him as their lead sports guy to do like everything. WHY? there are other guys out there like this, too.

were there people who actually liked joe morgan when he was doing the espn broadcasts for so many years?

Yes. Joe Morgan loved Joe Morgan.

I'll never forget back when Olberman used to sit in occasionally on Dan Patrick's old ESPN radio show and they had Joe Buck on during the WS. KO just railed on Buck on live radio, making fun of him having to announce all the Fox TV show "stars" that were in the seats at the games.

"Plan on giving a shout out to the stars of Jailbreak while Jeter is at bat tonight Joe?"

In short, Joe Buck was clearly pissed and Dan Patrick just sat silent and let it go. The tension was thick.

Seems to happen a lot to him. The tension when he had Artie Lange on his show was insane.

So I happened to wake up from a nap with MLB TV on, and they were doing a live look-in from when Castro got the RBI, and Kenney says something like, "So, guys, looks like Castro and Rizzo are the cornerstones of the Cubs right now?"

Reynolds says something like, "I don't think he stays at shortstop." And Leiter (I think) is like, "Are you saying that because of Baez?" (This was an opening to give a SLIGHTLY less stupid answer.)

Then, Reynolds is like, "No, I think it's just...is Castro the guy you want as your point guard? Last year, he just...I just don't think he's the kind of guy you want there and I don't think they want him there."

I get annoyed thinking about how many Cubs fans likely share this view and want Starlin to move off SS for Baez. In general, the lack of appreciation for him just upsets me. On a similar note, last week or the week before Kap said on Sportstalk Live or whatever that Rizzo and Castro could be hitting 6-7 in a few years. Like what the hell, Rizzo's probably the best future hitter currently in the org, and the only prospect I can comfortably say will be a better hitter than Castro is Bryant.

Given up hope on Baez already?

Baez's contact issues are tremendously worrisome and if I had to bet on who has a better major league career, given the fact that Castro is already an above average player and only a couple years older, I'd put all my money on Starlin.

Doesn't mean I've given up on him...just means one is way more likely.

Absolutely not, but I'm not moving Starlin to 2B or 3B when Baez could very well K 40% of the time in the majors. I'm much more willing to bet on Starlin over the next few years with what he's shown this season.

And actually, I change my mind from last post. I'm fairly confident Soler and Schwarber will be better hitters than Castro. I was mostly shocked by him saying Rizzo would be that low in the order.

And Joe Morgan was absolute gold as a baseball analyst - never heard so much entertainment. Same with Bobby V on baseball tonight, how soon people forget the Golden Age of baseball television. We'll not see their like again
