I have no idea what Salem is but yea, probably. I don't even use Twitter - it's only good when something 'controversial' happens to read all the mouthbreathers reactions. Then its amazing.

On the heels of a 126-pitch outing.

You really think it's egregious that he pitches at all after the rain delay? If they have him throw 110 pitches tonight I can see being upset, but he'd only thrown 23 pitches through 2 and he's more than capable of staying warm for a 1 hour delay without killing his ability to pitch further.

It's not the "ability" to pitch further that matters.

23 regulation pitches plus all the warm ups and no way to maintain the "warmth" of pitching while in rain delay.

It's dumb.

I'm kinda dumbstruck that you think this. 20 minute delays for your own team hitting are not uncommon(well, for the Cubs..), they even just went over all the ways that Samardzija was likely staying warm on the broadcast. If they have him throw another 90 pitches that's not a good idea, but ending his outing in this case is conservatism for conservatism's sake rather than an actual risk to his health.

You're insane. They have a 14 man staff, no hope to contend, overused him last game. It is mind boggling that you would pretend that is conservative for conservative sake. It's stupid negligent managing.

Maybe they want to trade him to a football team.

Anthony Rizzo singles on a fly ball to right fielder Jason Heyward. Ryan Kalish to 3rd. Anthony Rizzo out at 2nd, right fielder Jason Heyward to shortstop Andrelton Simmons to first baseman Freddie Freeman to second baseman Tyler Pastornicky to shortstop Andrelton Simmons to first baseman Freddie Freeman to shortstop Andrelton Simmons to left fielder Justin Upton. One out.

I just opened Gameday and that was the first thing I saw. I came here to post it but was too late.

It's negligent if they don't adjust the length of his outing because of the delay, because he does have to expend energy staying warm. Having him come back out is common sense.

A 93 mph cutter to get Upton, filthy

Extend him. Give him the $100 million+. Every top top pitching prospect is either hurt or not going to be traded for Shark (Gray, Syndergaard). And Stroman won't be as good as Shark with his height and fastball plane.

This should be the last inning. ~75 pitches is what I had in mind, and he can pitch out of trouble in that range and be done. Don't have him start the next inning where normal usage will put him 90+.
