If Hjalmarsson would get a few more points he would be my Hawks MVP so far. His play in the defensive zone has been great, especially on the PK. I think the Blues forecheck was somewhat contained by his play

 

Yeah he's a classic stay-at-home defenseman. Many have great careers doing it but will never win awards because they don't score.

Scott Stevens and Scott Neidermeyer have both won the Conn Smythe award in the last 15 yrs or so. I don't think neither was a classic stay at home dman, but they were not offensive minded dmen either. I think both were considered the best dmen on their teams though, not the case with Hjalmarsson

I don't have a problem with it. Especially Leddy over Brookbank. Leddy has been a real wildcard lately. Some good plays, but way too many mistakes.
