Lets take Vitters north! He's hitting .625 this spring.(10-16) Oh wait, that's his [expletive] K rate. Never mind.

My opinion on neither of these guys is painted by their spring training performance.

"Talent" is meaningless if you can't make the baseball touch the bat at a rate better than Madison Baumgarner.

I'm not freaking out. I just said I'd be impressed if they had the balls to admit this was coming. The whole point is that I *don't* expect it and there's no point in being mad at them if they don't do it.

The bottom of the contact% rankings are full of exceptions to the rule because of their talent.

The greater point is that we simply can't have the certainty that Lake will collapse that it means putting someone like Chris Coghlan on the roster instead. The alternatives are simply just as likely to be terrible(if not more so) and have no hope becoming useful pieces on the roster, unlike Lake, regardless of how dogmatically sure you are that he's completely devoid of value.

I can see thinking that Lake's (however difficult to reach) ceiling may be higher, but I could also see thinking one of those guys is substantially more likely to not be a useless piece of an MLB roster.

I think both Lake and Vitters need some time at AAA. Both have some promising tools that should get everyday and consistent work against competition that's appropriate. Both could get another few hundred AB at AAA before I felt it was definitely time for them to move on. They could both fade at AAA or prove their ready (mainly by improving on peripherals, and in Vitters case also Defense at a new position).

It doesn't need to be. At least Lake HAS had a modicum of success in the majors and offers versatility and speed. Vitters has no position and looked beyond pitiful in his actual ML stint. It's awesome he's put up solid numbers in AAA, but he's done less than Lake has to make a case for being a Major League player and if he doesn't hit, he offers less than zero.

I don't want any of these [expletive] heads "going north" but they all [expletive] suck so what can you do
