Sounds like Jarmo really wants/needs to unload Gaborik today. I understand, but would think he can't just get picks in return.

I only saw the first period, but the Blackhawks looked perfectly dominant. And I see they outshot Colorado 38-20.

They're fine, it's just variance. Last year we were a great team that got awfully lucky on top of things. This year, we haven't had the same luck but we're still playing darn well. They look better than they did during the 2-8-1 stretch in 2010 or whatever it was.

I'm not promising they'll get out of the first round, just because the division is super stacked, but they're fine in terms of quality. They're one of the best few teams in the league.

If you can continue sleepwalking tomorrow night, I'd appreciate it, thanks

Columbus always seems to wake them up. Though this is a different team than the one we pantsed over and over the last few years.

Really? despite going 4-0 against them last year, all 4 wins were by 1 goal, and 2 of them were OT/SO. I agree in previous years we have dominated them and I believe have won 11 in a row against them.

You're right, I forgot about all those tight games last year. My memory was going to the easy wins of the few prior years.

@ESPNChiHawks: Source says Hurricanes' Manny Malhotra has been associated with Blackhawks' trade talks.

Now that totally sounds like the kind of move we make at the deadline.

Yup - like a younger Handzus.

How many bottom six guys do we need? Kruger has turned himself into a good faceoff guy, and then we've got Shaw and Regin already that can slot there. Yeah, you move Shaw back to wing, turn Kruger into 3C, and make Malhotra your John Madden, but that makes the Regin deal pretty irrelevant.

So the Blackhawks are 7-12 against the Central Division this year and 1-7 against the Blues/Avs. Geez, great time for divisional playoff rounds

Looks like nothing from the Hawks. Par for the course. Not complaining, necessarily.

I wouldn't want them to hamper their ability to extend Toews and Kane just to "go for it" this season. I think we won't be doing anything major in FA or trades for a while.

Hawks painted themselves into a corner when Bowman severely overpaid Crawf & Bickell.

2nd round pick for [expletive] David Rundblad? Really?

Makes zero sense unless Leddy or Opooya are moved in the summer.

Hooray more dog [expletive] from Handzus & Regin.

what were you hoping to get? Crawford and Bickell were not overpaid, they were given market value contracts. The question is should have the Hawks paid them? Hawks are still the favorites and in good position to keep being strong contenders for several yrs to come.

Crawford's new deal doesn't start until next season. It was The Versteeg deal that painted them into a corner this year, if you want to call it that. As for Bickell, it's important to keep in mind that he started the season coming off 2 knee surgeries. I don't think he was healthy before the Olympic break. Hopefully he'll be more productive going forward.

The timing of the Rundblad deal is odd but he's a nice insurance policy against Roszival being old and showing it or Brookbank being himself.

He wasn't too hot to start the game though. The disallowed goal and the real goal...both were bad give ups with Crow outside the paint for some reason.
