I just don't see any way he doesn't start the year in AAA. There's too much to be gained on multiple levels. He may come right up in May after continuing his dominance in Iowa and postponing FA, but no way on Opening Day.

there is already a non zero chance of that happening. personally i'd prefer that he start in iowa just to buy another year of team control, but teams do start young players on their major league rosters if those guys are top prospects and they tear it up during spring ball.

They stayed at the hotel I worked at in Champaign (they were in town for auditions IIRC). All of them, women included, absolutely stank of BO. I'm not sure if that was a side effect of steroids or just being so freakishly huge that they didn't care what anyone around them thought.

Javier Baez has been feasting on LH pitching when he's had the chance to face them .450/.500/.917/1.417 at AA (60 ABs). RHP has "held" him to an .837 ops at AA. That's too small a sample to worry but 100 PAs at AAA would seem like a worthwhile precaution before promoting him.

 

I bet they'd also want him to play 3rd or 2nd base for a while assuming they don't move Castro in the off season. Baez doesn't seem to like playing 3rd very much. I don't remember him ever playing 2nd.

 

Team control will still be a big factor too, though not publicly for obvious reasons.
