Parks tweeting up a storm about Almora:

I'm surprised more people don't view #Cubs CF Albert Almora as a legit top 15 prospect in the game. Legit five-tool talent.

I view Almora as the top prospect in the #Cubs system.

After a reply claiming Almora has no power..

Good hitters develop power; he's also 19 years-old and coming off a hamate injury. He has legit pop.

On what pushes Almora ahead of Baez..

It's close. Almora's instincts for the game.

On why Almora is 1 for 4 on the basepaths..

Doesn't get great jumps; not a refined part of his game yet. Very minor concern at this point. His instincts will really help

Yes. I would still rank Almora and Baez over Bryant.

He's not a true burner. I think he ends up as a 5 on the 2/8 but it will play up in OF because of his reads, which are incredible

Bat potential? Baez, Bryant, Soler, Almora. On ceiling? Baez, Almora, Bryant, Soler. On glove? Almora, Baez, Bryant, Soler

Doesn't make sense to rank Baez higher than Almora in all but glove and then rank Almora higher overall. Especially since SS glove > CF glove.

Well, he's rating Baez' potential with the bat higher. He may feel more certain about Almora's likely future.

He's talking about potential there, and I don't think anyone would argue there's a larger gulf between Baez and his ceiling and Almora and his ceiling

EDIT: Beaten for a 3rd time today. Time to pack it up and try again tomorrow.

I understand that but Almora still only has very little experience. Baez has more PAs this year than Almora in his career so far. Baez has shown more power. Neither has walked enough. I don't think you can say Baez is further from his ceiling considering that he's at a higher level and has already shown everything he can do for a longer period of time..... including some in ML preseason games. Almora hasn't shown the power or SB ability.

I don't really disagree, I have Baez #1 too. That's the logic though, and I can understand it's just a difference in how they evaluate those two.

I always thought that Soler had the insane offensive upside but Baez was ranked above him do to his overall game.

That was an incorrect thought. Soler has the upside to be a really good player. Baez has the upside to be elite. Like top 10 player in baseball good.

He hit it off of rehabbing, once top prospect, Kyle Drabek.

@daytonacubs: Cubs now on top 2-1 thanks to another RBI by @javy23baez! His single drives in Tim Saunders and gives him 52 knocked in this year!

Daytona News-Journal[/url]"]Though just two years removed from being the Chicago Cubs' first pick in the draft, Baez didn't back down when facing Drabek.

“It doesn't matter who is on the mound – he has to throw strikes,” Baez said. “He's got the ball and I have the bat. He's going to try to pitch to you.”

Baez said his experience in major league spring training in March benefitted him when he faced Drabek. Baez batted .302 and led Chicago with four homers and 10 RBIs when the Cubs reassigned him to minor league camp on March 18.

“Major league pitchers are going to throw strikes and throw the ball over the plate,” Baez said. “You're going to get something to hit.”

Baez has been on a power surge. Seven of his last nine hits have been home runs.

“I've been seeing the ball pretty good and making contact pretty good, driving the ball into the air,” Baez said. “I've been trying to get my hands lower and going straight to the ball.”
