Scout (and apparently Mayo and Callis as well): 'Garner is likely up with Cubs quickly, possibly September, if not next year'...

Harold Reynolds says he will be starting tomorrow against the Pirates.

One of the guys mentioned that unlike some guys he may be the type who goes right to the bullpen. But September? Crazy talk.

Cubs 4th/5th round choices of Skulina/Masek: solid value?

Skulina's got a huge arm, good value at that round. Masek was on my top 100, future reliever but a solid one.

ok, for you milb experts, where do the college pitchers start? boise? kane county? daytona?

not an expert. I think outside the studs at the top, guys will begin and short season (Boise) and see time in Kane County.

Cubs take another college RHP, David Garner from Michigan State

Next year most all of them will be in KC with a few in extended spring training and Daytona.

Combined with Underwood and Blackburn, there's going to be a logjam at Kane County next year.

Both Underwood and Blackburn should be in Boise this year, right?

where else would there be for them to go? KC? probably not.

the bigger question is does Bryant start at Boise as soon as their season starts?

i have no idea how this works.

yeah, but it would seem that they'd be moving a bit slow if they played rookie ball again.

Depends on when he signs (deadline is July 12th). He'll tune up in Mesa and then either go to Boise for a quick stop or go directly to KC.

It's at least doubtful that Bryant signs that quickly. It's probable he signs much closer or even on July 12th([expletive] you Boras). My guess is he'd get a few games in Arizona, a few more in Boise, then hit KC in August. Possibly with a very late promotion to Daytona. Also possible they let him bypass KC and just get 50 games or so in at Daytona. Could also see him in the AFL this year.

Going to KC would cause a logjam of actual prospects in the CIF spots. Candelerio hasn't done well enough to move him up, but has done too well to move down. Can't shift him to first because of Vogelbach.

Obviously, they'll put Bryant where he needs to be first and worry about everyone else after. But I'm curious what would happen with those guys.

It's possible. Boras guys do sometimes sign early. But the most likely case is he signs at the deadline and wouldn't be at KC until late in the month.
