He's actually gone too far the other way. He has just 6 pitchers in the lineup, so he could carry a 4th bench player. He just needs to get 19 non-DL, non-prospects.

i have changed the settings on the bench limit from 6 to 3. i believe it was set at 6 so people could bench extra guys in order to not go over their 7 starts. obviously this was causing lots of problems with people having too many guys on their bench.

 

if you run into a problem where you need to bench a bunch of SPs so as to not go over the 7 starts, let me know.

 

as far as juan goes...i have decided to take away his two highest starts (since he was two players over the max bench). don't really know how else to handle it. i can't let him win his matchup with a roster like that and i guess taking all his points away is pretty harsh. the end.

Can I just voice my displeasure over the waiver system? If someone picks up a player and drops them on the same day, that player still sits on waivers for the whole week, unusable by any other team. It's stupid. Especially for SPs, which can be changed at any time during the week.

Did I not get Strasburg's points because of an illegal lineup? Fwiw, I was able to activate Greinke Tuesday night but my phone app hadnt been working for the last couple days. I didn't get on the computer the last couple days either. Whatever I have to suffer is cool.... just want to know.

did you have a four man bench? I changed the settings to make that illegal.

I did. As I posted, I benched cingrani b/c I didn't want his start. I think we need to keep the settings to allow at least a 4 man bench since we mess with SPs so much.

I thought this was allowed - have a larger bench as not count starts over 7....I currently have 5 GS and four starts on Sunday so in order not to go over I am benching Fister and Vargas

It is allowed under our rules. But to make it work, we had to expand the bench limits. For some reason, that confused people into thinking they could have more than 19 players, so abuck switched it so having more than 3 on your bench is illegal.

Is it not possible to make the settings so you can't have an illegal lineup? Wouldnt it be common sense to set it so u cant have an illegal lineup? u can't activate someone from the DL without cutting a player. Don't allow adds without a drop. Don't allow 2-1 trades without making a cut.

there are big red letters that notify you that you have an illegal lineup. and the whole "not giving you any points when you have an illegal lineup" is also a setting. but yes, i do wish there was a way that it would save you from yourself and just be like "NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT, NOT ALLOWED." i also wish people would just not have illegal lineups since we've done this league for like 10 years.

and yes, it is getting quite frustrating to have to fix all this [expletive] when people can't do simple +1, -1 adding/subtracting. maybe i didn't notice how much everyone in this league sucked at math before i was the commissioner.

It's weird that something you can do in every fantasy league (start fewer than the max players) is suddenly an illegal lineup that requires abuck to override the system. Go back to allowing extra bench spots as long as the max active player limit is still 19. I just don't believe that's really confusing to anyone when the max hasn't changed in years.

I know. But that's sort of insane. It seems much more likely that someone will need or want to bench a SP to avoid a start than in it is that someone who has been in the league for years or even created it suddenly thinking the active rosters have expanded to 25 when every team has 19 active players and that person decides to only use 20 of the 25 available spots.

i don't think i can recall a situation where i've ever had to overflow my bench to avoid going over my starts. i guess i figured it wasn't that common. wouldn't it require a pretty crazy amount of starters going on the same day?
