lol, I'm too lazy to screencap but on the ESPN poll for who will win the Stanley Cup, it was 55-45 in favor of the Hawks, and every state picked the Hawks except the entirety of New England (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI) and Michigan. Suck it scum fans.

But with hockey, I'd really like to see some Canadian results too.

56-44% internationally, which would presumably be mostly Canadians

I'd also like to remind everyone that picked this, pretty much. i said that the hawks were a bad matchup for the kings when everyone was afraid.

i'd also like to remind you that you thought we lost each and every game of the series at some point lol

they ended up not matching up as well as i thought they would. i think that has more to do with the hawks level of play, which has elevated in the last 8 or 9 games

That's surprising considering how the Bruins just dominated the only team ESPN is aware of that plays hockey.

Here's how this series will break down. The Bruins will start out trying to do to the Hawks what they did to the Pens. They will then learn that the Hawks are not the Penguins since they actually play defense in front of a capable goaltender. They will then try the Lake scum approach and try to out hit the Hawks which they will be able to do because they'll learn what every team in the West knows- the Hawks don't care about being out hit. The Hawks will use their speed to confuse the Bruins and put more pressure on Rask. This is what Toronto did and they wound up taking the Bruins to 7 games.

The key to this series will be first goal. The Bruins had the luxury of playing with the lead for most of their series with the Pens. If the Hawks can make them chase that will loosen up their tight defense. The Hawks weren't afraid of Quick so I doubt they'll be afraid of Rask. I'm not sure how good Rask is but he'll have to prove that the Pens series was more than just luck (I think the Pens hit about 10 posts a game).

The Hawks for their part need to dictate a fast tempo and not get sucked into what the Bruins want to do.

Down Goes Brown @DownGoesBrown

The 2013 NHL playoffs are brought to you by a sportswriter shift-deleting his entire column while swearing.

DGB is awesome I need to get his book.

So where 75% of American hockey fans live:) I have not really looked at the details yet, but I think the Hawks will win. Pittsburgh's D is not even in the same league as Chicago's. Also, I think this series will be won on the 3rd/4th lines...advantage Hawks.

I have a single ticket for each of game 1 and 2 (cost 329 and 249). Would like to trade a single from one game to the other, or trade them both for a later game. Anything is on the table really.

Walkom's reign of terror is over. He was not chosen to do the finals.

@SportsnetSpec: Referees assigned to the Stanley Cup Final: Wes McCauley, Dan O'Halloran, Chris Rooney, Brad Watson.

In my mind, this solidifies Kane's legacy as a Blackhawk. In 20 years, we'll look back on Kane's career as one of the greatest Blackhawks of all time.

History will be a lot kinder to Kane than his contemporaries. It's hard sometimes for people to appreciate the greatness of a player while they are still playing since they can still fail, or perhaps more accuarately, because they aren't great all the time.

Kane hasn't even reached the height of his career yet. Hopefully he'll have 10 more years to solidify that legacy. After he retires, we'll remember the spin o ramas and clutch goals and forget about his tendancy to lose interest or float around his own Blue line.

canucks elimination game hat trick, kings elimination game hat trick and ot winner, stanley cup ot winner. preds game tying goal..... kane has had a ridiculous amount of clutch moments in the hugest of all spots

I'm not hockey expert, and I realize Kane has weaknesses, but he just keeps scoring goals in clutch moments. At this point, I don't think it's mere coincidence. And it is rather invaluable. I'll trade some defensive weakness for playoff-series-winning-goals, thank you very much.

Apparently a 9 year old Hawks fan drew up this gameplan to beat Boston:

Whoever wrote that really needs a thesaurus. I also liked the comment "We should call him the MArquis du Saad and teach him about pain". A saddist likes administering pain, not receiving it. That's a masochist.

yeah, boston pro sports sites are usually just an abortion of humor. they're trying so hard to make flip comments that they end up stringing maybe a few coherent sentences together.

Go Hawks go, go Hawks go. Hey Chicago whaddya say, Chicago Cubs song is really gay.

that thing has really jumped the shark, and the homophobic jokes are pretty distasteful

Clever spin; clearly that's Kane's work.

yeah but that's backwards. it becomes reverse jinx mojo, but only because you're actually freaking out. to be like "aww man lost that faceoff too bad so sad series down the draaaain" with no zest or conviction would be more like reverse reverse mojo. only the 'MOTHER OF GOD HOW IS THAT SLASHING THESE DAMN REFS ARE GOING TO GIVE THE DAMN SERIES TO THESE CLOWNS' full-throttle rejection of anything resembling patience or reason can effectively work as reverse jinx mojo

and besides, i think the elevated play of the hawks, the health of the kings (ex. brown, torn pcl), and whatever was wrong with jonathan quick had more to do with the quick exit than the paper matchup

yeah, that was so bad that the "linesmen pop out of the ether to stop it" part seemed almost smile-worthy in relief
