Mike Haviland was hired as head coach of the AHL Hershey Bears. Always liked him.

that ruddy faced dude always looked half in the bag when they interviewed him coming back from intermission.

Haha maybe that's why I liked him. I don't know he just seemed like a cool guy.

Choking gutless dogs led by the Hockey version of Dusty Baker. Expect our PP to suck next year too.

lol, ok man. you can't choke when your opponent is damn good, and deserves to be there as well. it's a tough series. they may lose, but there's no choking going on. bruins are really good.

Toews and Kane haven't been very good. Toews has 1 goal in 19 games. Kane has 4? Nobody on this team is winning face offs. Where has Bickell been? Q has been especially bad. I'd call it choking. The Hawks should be better then this.

they've been outscored by 2 goals and 2-1 is literally as close as a series could possibly be through 3 games. if they're choking, then every team that's ever lost in the playoffs has choked.

Nah, it's like I've said they should be playing better and Q's coaching decisions are awful. Were a deeper more talented team. Here's a fun stat. In the last 9 games the Hawks are 1-27 on the PP.

I have a hard time telling the difference between the people that are trying a reverse jinx mojo thing and those that really believe the series is over. Hossa is a big loss if he can't play in game 4. The Hawks may very well need a shut out from Crawford in Game 4. I believe he can do it.

He's been phenomenal, and there are suggestions he is playing himself onto the olympic roster next year for Canada. Which may be good or bad news for the Hawks.

He used the phrase "Shillelagh's it" last night, and I still don't know what the heck that means.

Hawks PP has been an issue all year, not just this series.

It's not choking, but you can keep saying it if that's what makes you happy.

Yeah he's dropped that one the last few games. One I haven't heard is "jai alai's it." Maybe I just missed it, I've heard him use it several times in the past.

ESPN says Hossa is likely to play in Game 4.....good news

any updates from an entity that covers hockey?

Speaking of, man has the local media been annoying. So many people that don't know jack about hockey suddenly having to cover it and talk about it, and work themselves up into a lather because the Hawks last a game last night.

That's par for the course outside of Canada.

It's true. These folks have no clue. The attention for the team and the sport is great, and perhaps the hockey knowledge they have matches much of the bandwagon listeners at this point. I'm not complaining about casual hockey fans. It's great.

I'm not complaining about casual hockey fans at all...just casual hockey media. Those are closer to the same thing than they should be.

I'm not hockey expert, not by a long shot....but I think what the Bruins really unique ability is, is blocking pucks. Not only does it help out Rask, but a lot of their blocks kick out past the defensemen and allow for breakaways for Boston. I'd like to see the Hawks shoot on the move more often rather than stop and shoot. Easy for me to say.

it's definitely a skill, but it's also part of how well they collapse and crowd out the middle by putting themselves in the high puck traffic areas. it's a really smart defensive scheme that is executed well more often than not. the hawks antidote to this is to stretch the ice and get shots on rask with as few bruins defenders in the area as possible

but that's only one side to swinging things back in the right direction. we have to play better defense, especially from those yippy swedes. of course, a hossa-for-smith swap should work wonders

Yes, there are a lot of sudden hockey experts on Chicago radio in particular. I don't claim to have in-depth knowledge of the game, but even I can tell it's a lot of nonsense being touted as expert analysis.

No Hossa at morning skate. But Q still says he's "likely" to play tonight.

Jonathan Toews skated with Patrick Kane and Bryan Bickell on a presumptive top line, with Michal Handzus centering Patrick Sharp and either Hossa or whoever plays for Hossa.

Brandon Saad, Andrew Shaw and Viktor Stalberg skated as a third line and Dave Bolland centered a line with Michael Frolik and Marcus Kruger.

Love Toews, Kane, and Bickell on the first line. Should have been that way from the start.
